So the idea is we'll do codebat exercises on our own, then ask for help in the group if we can't solve one? Sounds like a good learning experience. I'll check in here once a day or so to see what's up.

would the Exercism.io system work to generate the problems to work on? Their exercises tend to ramp up pretty heavy into algorithms / theory and not so much on learning a framework. Just depends on where people want to take this cooperative learning time.

I personally vote for learning a framework because you will not find a codine job that isn't heavily influenced on the framework they use to get stuff done. No one codes pure java with out a framework unless you are doing some sort of strange scientific computation (even then, I bet there are frameworks for that).

Hey guys, I'm excited!! I didn't realize people actually joined. I was worried nothing would come of this! If you guys wouldn't mind introducing yourself so everyone knows a who and where everyone learns in terms of their Java knowledge.
I'm the one who created the thread, and as it says I have about a year's worth of programming experience.
jjrobinson, especially curious about you. Also, if you guys are interested we could pair up and and schedule skype conferences just to discuss what we've learned. As for me, I've done the entirety of Warmup1's exercises, but I discovered another site: CodeEval I like how it works, I've only done 8 exercises so far, but I'm planning on doing at least one a day.

Also, do any of you also use Stackoverflow? Or any of the stackexchange sites?
