    regarding the upvote feature..I worked through an AngularJS tutorial early this week that included upvote. Maybe a bit over kill to implement something similar but if any of you care to look at the code the repo is under my account, named ang-news
    Kevin Gimbel
    @kevingimbel
    I think angular is really an overkill but maybe - or better surely - it can be implemented in plain JavaScript or jQuery. :)
    Tim Pietrusky
    @TimPietrusky
    and where do you save the data?
    Kevin Gimbel
    @kevingimbel
    that's the tricky part - depends if the page is self-hosted (where you could run MongoDB or something like that) or on Github where I have no idea
    Tim Pietrusky
    @TimPietrusky
    I would use github
    and ajax to save the data
    into a free mongodb hoster for example
    via their API
    Kevin Gimbel
    @kevingimbel
    That'd work
    Felix De Montis
    @dervondenbergen
    as a free mongodb hoster
    Tim Pietrusky
    @TimPietrusky
    have you used it before?
    Felix De Montis
    @dervondenbergen
    Tim Pietrusky
    @TimPietrusky
    ah yeah, nice
    so we just use "upsert" to update or create a new entry to save votes
    using localStorage to prevent double votes with the same browser
    Felix De Montis
    @dervondenbergen
    i don't know, i did this after an tutorial on the internet
    Tim Pietrusky
    @TimPietrusky
    :D
    yeah no problem, we use MongoDB at work
    Felix De Montis
    @dervondenbergen
    ok
    Jason Hodges
    @jasonhodges
    The AngularJS tutorial I mentioned utilized Firebase
    Kevin Gimbel
    @kevingimbel
    @jasonhodges haven't worked with Firebase but IMO Angular is too heavy for such a "simple" thing. :)

    using Disqus could be an option as well. They have upvote/downvote and API. http://disqus.com/api/docs/ (1/2) & (2/2) under Advanced here https://github.com/disqus/DISQUS-API-Recipes suggests you could get that functionality
    Kevin Gimbel
    @kevingimbel
    Yep Disqus works for sure, thought about implementing it on my own blog.
