    Hey kotlin team, I just thought I would tell you what a great job you have been doing with Kotlin. So refreshing that it is not owned by big corp like google or facebook. Keep up the good work and please don't sell out to them. You guys are amazing.

    stupid question... maybe
    have two files. "facade" file 'DeviceB.kt'

    package demo.DeviceB
    import ....
    .....

    and "util" file 'util.kt' that hold all trash for facade

    package demo.DeviceB.util
    ....
    class Garbage{
    }
    .....

    I wand somehow to reach 'Garbage' class in util, from inside DeviceB
    if I write in the 'DeviceB.kt' file

    package demo.DeviceB
    import demo.DeviceB.util.*
    .....

    all my namespace get polluted with all util package content. so I want to reference to util classes by 'util.' prefix
    and expect this call looks like this

    util.Garbage

    but I cannot. what import statement should I write in the 'DeviceB.kt' file ?

    is there a way to convert my custom type to string on assignment? Like C# implicit operator?

    @bruno-garcia is this channel still maintained?

    @halirutan
    @incube8r Not really. Most of the action happens on Slack.
    @incube8r I believe you can get invited to Slack here: https://surveys.jetbrains.com/s3/kotlin-slack-sign-up

    Is it possible to create an interface with a function that can accept any number of arguments?

    slovarik ><@gitter_codymikol:matrix.org> Is it possible to create an interface with a function that can accept any number of arguments?

    Perhaps you are referring to a variable arguments? https://kotlinlang.org/docs/reference/functions.html#variable-number-of-arguments-varargs

    slovarik Kotlin language documentation is very comprehensive and easily comprehensible as one that is written by the people who do care for you to understand.
    Also it might by fun to experiment and discover stuff by yourself and you can at zero zero time try Kotlin online in the browser

    Hey here, I have a weird behavior
    dynamoTable.getItem(spec).let{ item -> throws a class exception
    java.lang.ClassCastException: java.util.LinkedHashMap cannot be cast to java.lang.String
    why does it want to cast it to String ?
    Cyril Scetbon
    @cscetbon
    oh nvm, seems to be the debugger that does not print the right line number :(
    Cyril Scetbon
    @cscetbon
    okay an issue I have now is that Kotlin infer a BigDecimal for an entry in a Map
    and when trying to convert it to Json it completely fails because of it
    ts_usec -> {BigDecimal@3646} "1564637080916000"
    => org.apache.kafka.connect.errors.DataException: Java class class java.math.BigDecimal does not have corresponding schema type.
    Cyril Scetbon
    @cscetbon
    The issue was caused by the fact that there was no corresponding schema type in the library for BigDecimal. I had to get rid of it
    another question is when I try to put data into a Java HashMap
    this is a Collection$SingletonMap with a key and value
    then when we do a put I get a java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException
    Cyril Scetbon
    @cscetbon
    Is there an easy way to convert a Struct to a Map ?
    Cyril Scetbon
    @cscetbon
    Anyone here ?
    matrixbot
    @matrixbot
    frevib Yes
    frevib Most question are probably answered faster on Stackoverflow

    mcescher the kotlin/js related documentation is highly confusing or outdated on the website? ... on the website they're mentioning a kotlin2js gradle plugin. however when i create a new gradle based kotlin/js project the generated gradle file contains no mention of that plugin, but org.jetbrains.kotlin.js ... what's the difference, is there any documentation?

    Kotlin Ranges: Why isn't there a downTo variant to exclude last item like until?
    matrixbot
    @matrixbot
    anunnaki ?
    anunnaki There is downTo in kotlin
    Gopal S Akshintala
    @overfullstack
    No my question is downTo does include last item, where as until does not
    I m asking why isn't there something like downTo until
    Which works in reverse order but exclusive to last item
    matrixbot
    @matrixbot
    anunnaki So what's the problem adding -1?
