Nils
@nilshg
Three more small things (probably all Atom-related):
  • I can't drag around the edges of workspace tree and tabs anymore to adjust sizes
  • The scroll bar on the tabs is the big ugly Windows one, not the small nice Lighttable one
  • The menu bar (File/Edit/View...) is back, iirc it was gone (at least in full screen mode) with LT 0.7.2?
Capture.JPG
Probably easiest to just send a screen grab... I'm talking about the middle scroll bar (as compared to the lower left one on the workspace tree)
Hold on... After opening another file in the same tab, the scroll bar changed to the correct one... Weird
Sebastian Pfitzner
@pfitzseb
You can actually still adjust the size of the tabs, console and workspace. But the cursor doesn't change any more, so it's kinda hard to hit the right spot.
The scroll bar issue has been around for quite some time - I had hoped it would go away with a newer version of chromium but apparently that didn't happen (and for me it actually always is the windows scroll bar except in newly opened tabs). It might be in some way because of Reminisce, but I'm not to sure about it.
And the menu bar has always been there for me... Strange, that for some it seems to have vanished for a time...
Nils
@nilshg
Ah, I see! Managed to resize my workspace tree, thanks!
Mike J Innes
@MikeInnes
Ok, I'll take a look at that
By the way, the distribution uses a different settings folder (under Juno-LT) for plugins etc., so if you try things like uninstalling plugins to see where errors are coming from it won't mess with your existing setup
Nils
@nilshg
There's no existing setup anymore :) After I realized that I can't crash Juno with a right-click anymore I got rid of my old Lighttable installation - lost way too much work by accidentally killing Juno after long computations...
Mike J Innes
@MikeInnes
Fair enough :)
Nils
@nilshg
And in any case it seems that there aren't really any new bugs in this version (knock on wood), just those minor technicalities introduced by atom-shell that I'm sure will be ironed out in due time and aren't really a problem in day-to-day usage
Mike J Innes
@MikeInnes
Great, well that's the main thing then
Sebastian Pfitzner
@pfitzseb
Is it possible to plot something with Gadfly and have it not displayed as an interactive js thingy but as a picture (svg or something)? Without any explicit calls to draw(), I mean.
Mike J Innes
@MikeInnes
Sure, how come?
I think there's a way to select default output type, but you'd have to check the gadfly docs
Sebastian Pfitzner
@pfitzseb
I have a plot with a lot of points and that pretty much stops LT from working because it's so slow.
Mike J Innes
@MikeInnes
Ah I see, fair enough
Sebastian Pfitzner
@pfitzseb
Even with 1000 points it's pretty slow. It'd be nice to decouple the displaying of the plot from the rest of LT, but I guess that wouldn't be easy...
Mike J Innes
@MikeInnes
Yeah, not sure how that'd be possible
Actually, you could just open the plot in its own window, which would have it's own process
I'll look into that
Sebastian Pfitzner
@pfitzseb
But then it wouldn't be inline anymore, no?
Mike J Innes
@MikeInnes
No, that's the caveat
The other way would be to wrap chrome from Julia, but that's no small task ;)
Sebastian Pfitzner
@pfitzseb
Something that could work: Display a static image inline and have an option to open the interactive svg in a new window.
Nils
@nilshg
Potential minor "bug": when an error is raised and I click the link to the referenced line, I get Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'Shell' of undefined
Mike J Innes
@MikeInnes
@Varanas That could work. Ideally you want Gadfly to choose the best option
Nils
@nilshg
Although Juno does open the correct file, jumps to the correct line and highlights it correctly, so I'm not sure why this TypeError is raised...
Sebastian Pfitzner
@pfitzseb
Oh, and something that would be nice also is the option to suppress the output of some line with a " - although that probably looks strange if there's some lines with a semicolon and some without in your code...
Mike J Innes
@MikeInnes
Yeah that would be handy
Sebastian Pfitzner
@pfitzseb
That was of course meant to be a ;...
Mike J Innes
@MikeInnes
Yeah I figured :P
Sebastian Pfitzner
@pfitzseb
Thought so ;)

@MikeInnes
I'm not sure I understand, the theme looks fine to me – what were you expecting to see?
Tobias Link
@beingalink
ok, guess I was just used to a different theme in lighttable
In the first screenshot I was just missing separators
if it's to be expected to look like that, it's fine I guess
sorry for the wrong alarm
Mike J Innes
@MikeInnes
No problem. You can change the theme by opening up the user behaviors file
The bundle uses it's own settings folder which is why it's not picking up on your old theme, if that helps
Sebastian Pfitzner
@pfitzseb
Something I found a bit strange is that there are two plugin directories - one for the preinstalled plugins in the installation/extraction-dir and one in ~\AppData\Roaming\Juno-LT for user-added plugins. It'd be nice if those could be unified.
Mike J Innes
@MikeInnes
That's always been there, though
Sebastian Pfitzner
@pfitzseb
Hm, true - hadn't noticed with LT because there were fewer plugins installed.
Sebastian Pfitzner
@pfitzseb
Oh, and do you have any clue why I can't open the dev-inspector anymore? I'm sure it worked yesterday, but since I undocked it only an empty window (which I can see in the taskbar but cannot open) comes up.
few
@few
When juno is connected to a julia instance running in a terminal and I enter a variable name into that terminal, then the output goes to the lighttable terminal and not the terminal julia is running in. Is this expected?
Mike J Innes
@MikeInnes
@Varanas, that's weird, not sure why
@few No, I've just fixed that as it happens
Mike J Innes
@MikeInnes
I pushed an update to the dropbox, but you might need to checkout jewel and lazy if you download it
