(I have little experience with most distros, and I also have little experience with linux as a GUI/desktop -- 99% of my interaction with Linux is via ssh
it might be. i want to be done with it, not experiment with it.

Ubuntu 20.04 was released today. I put it on an old desktop pc - simple. A couple years ago I spent many hours trying to get Android Studio running, no luck. This time it was a snap, just a couple of path changes to my keystore and I was able to reproduce an apk file and publish it to the PlayStore in EigenFrame Beta. I needed a backup dev machine - but what I got is a much better/faster dev machine. Nice!
Oh sweet. I've become a fan of Ubuntu Server over the past year or so.
I'll have to give Ubutnu 20.04 a whirl.
Yeah, running apache servicemix/kafka, spark, hive, hbase, camel... on a machine grid. My download today was of course the desktop Ubuntu version.

Has the freenode #koss been abandoned?
Probably...? IRC isn't nearly as popular as others these days.
This Gitter channel is new (since COVID19). Hasn't been super-busy yet.

Hi all!! Don't forget that "Virtual Red Hat Summit" kicks off today with OpenShift Commons...
Is it kosher to advertise for jobs in here?
@/all Just announced... Red Hat and IBM have partnered to create a web site, http://skillsbuild.org/, where people can re-train for a job in Technology - FOR FREE...
If you know someone who is interested in a career change, please share!
To give you an idea, the Red Hat content is sufficient to train to attain the Red Hat Certified Engineer level.
I've added many new features to the opensource EigenFrame GitHub repository (Prolog inference engine).
FYI, Red Hat now has a VERY active Twitch channel where you can stream information/training around Kubernetes and Cloud Native. If you join the LIVE sessions, you can ask questions of the engineers who work on the platforms. twitch.tv/redhatopenshift
