    I suppose we /could/ have scaled up a single system to handle it, but I'm so tired and jaded about HA failover pairs, lol
    serpicot
    @serpicot
    yeah its still kind of young
    but so is kairos unless you count opentsdb as part of its history
    Nathan Haneysmith
    @tmonk42
    I do, mostly because the clustering/scaling is handled by Cassandra, which is solid
    or, at least in my deployment I'm using Cassandra
    serpicot
    @serpicot
    yeah I like cassandra
    although I've run tsdb before but not on cassandra
    hbase
    so to me this is the best of both worlds
    is this normal that when you add a row, in order to add a graph to the new new row you have to select edit on the first graph and then duplicate it?
    I don't anywhere that says "add graph"
    serpicot
    @serpicot
    so when you add a row its blank until you clone a graph and then it populates the row with the a graph and then you can edit it the new row/graph combo?
    Nathan Haneysmith
    @tmonk42
    yup
    serpicot
    @serpicot
    that part was throwing me, I was like wheres the add graph button?
    Nathan Haneysmith
    @tmonk42
    hiding :)
    serpicot
    @serpicot
    heh
    serpicot
    @serpicot
    so I have an elastic instance up and I added elasticsearch: {
    type: 'elasticsearch',
    url: "http:192.168.10.10:9200",
    index: 'grafana-dash',
    grafanaDB: true
    to config.js
    should that now automatcially save to ES?
    I'm looking at ES and I don't see an index created named grafana-dash
    serpicot
    @serpicot
    I'm assuming when I select the floppy icon to have I should see my elasticsearch source there as a save target?
    yeah it saves by default to ES if thats the only persistence you have configured. I see it now
    Nathan Haneysmith
    @tmonk42
    index grafana-dash is created on first time you save a dashboard
    serpicot
    @serpicot
    are your hosts/instances sending to multiple kairosdb instances or do you use a single kairos?
    seems like I might need to stick them behind haproxy
    I think the plugin can only query a single kairos as well
    Nathan Haneysmith
    @tmonk42
    serpicot: I'm running in AWS, architecture currently is ELB -> 2x Haproxy -> 4x KairosDB -> 9x Cassandra
    serpicot
    @serpicot
    oh hey
    are you running those 4 karios on some of the cassandras or those are standalone
    ?
    I'm assuing standalone
    Nathan Haneysmith
    @tmonk42
    all standalone
    serpicot
    @serpicot
    how many datapoints are you ingesting?
    Nathan Haneysmith
    @tmonk42
    ~50K/sec
    serpicot
    @serpicot
    per kairos node?
    Nathan Haneysmith
    @tmonk42
    total, we could probably scale it down, it's mostly for redundancy right now, might go the route some other peeps have with Kairos of having explicit read vs write nodes
    serpicot
    @serpicot
    is there an upside though to splitting those up?
    I guess different hardware
    Nathan Haneysmith
    @tmonk42
    beyond that, yeah, there's some caching things that read nodes do that IIRC that encourages people to split them up, plus if read load gets heavy, it won't impact receiving and writing metrics to the datastore
    serpicot
    @serpicot
    makes sense
    serpicot
    @serpicot
    are you using collectd?
    Nathan Haneysmith
    @tmonk42
    no collectd right now, but it's coming down the pipe
    Andrew Wang
    @wangdrew
    hello, has anyone had any issues with the adding aggregators?
    I've tried a few: avg, sum, percentile, they don't seem to work for any time amount, the original data still gets returned
    rdettai
    @rdettai
    hey! that's weird, what version are you using?
    Shriram Sharma
    @shriramsharma
    hey all, does the kairos plugin for grafana support templating?.
    vmahiwal
    @vmahiwal
    Seems kairos DB is dead now ?
    rdettai
    @rdettai
    probably not the hottest time series DB of 2020, yeah ;-)

    @razvanpm
    hi, is this plugin still active? I've found that with the latest grafana versions I cannot define alerts, complaining that the plugin is unavailable.
    (actually the question is about this repo https://github.com/KC-SAS/kairosdb-grafana-enhanced-plugin)
