@DavidCamelo I canceled that backup, can you try again?
DavidCamelo
@DavidCamelo
Sure
DavidCamelo
@DavidCamelo
:(
Dan Pastusek
@PastuDan
ok fixed! the backup was stuck due to some limits on your namespace (I removed those)
that backup completed
DavidCamelo
@DavidCamelo
yes, I saw, after a while...
Dan Pastusek
@PastuDan
they should be nearly instant now
DavidCamelo
@DavidCamelo
Got it, thanks!
Now is working fast, thanks!!

@erulabs
A small hint: when a backup is scheduled but not starting, there should be a job in your namespace - ie: kubectl describe jobs - typically the job is failing to start for some reason, which makes the backup just sit and hang
I should make the backup page have a link to the job - it does show up in the kubesail ui under "resources" - just not linked helpfully in the backups view
DavidCamelo
@DavidCamelo
Got it
Borozenets
@Borozenets
Hi,
I can't cancel my subscription. I do not need this service yet. How do I cancel my subscription ? Thank you!
Dan Pastusek
@PastuDan
Hey @Borozenets I went ahead and canceled your subscription and refunded your last payment. Thanks for giving us a try!

@erulabs
Hello everyone - just a very last heads up that our C1 cluster is being removed today. All apps have been migrated, so no one should need this announcement, but making it anyways! :D
DavidCamelo
@DavidCamelo
Hi @PastuDan and @erulabs today I made backups of all my resources, I need to restore only the PVC wordpress-mysql-pv-claim, but it's not working, the job is stuck, I think it's a problem with my dedicated cluster because I tested in the shared cluster I was able to restore the PVC
Seandon Mooy
@erulabs
Hrm - trying to do the restore to your dedicated cluster? It's possible the job isn't starting correctly - you might do kubectl get jobs
DavidCamelo
@DavidCamelo
_
Seandon Mooy
@erulabs
hrm yes, it's just waiting for some reason - possibly it doesnt have space to start :( You can do kubectl describe job and it will likely have an error
I've had a task to make the KubeSail.com dashboard inform you of that automatically for far too long now :(
DavidCamelo
@DavidCamelo
Seandon Mooy
@erulabs
Ah, it actually failed :O - you can look at the restore pod - at the end of that error message it mentions the name of the pod - you can use kubectl logs <pod_name> or look in the UI and hopefully it should have some useful error there...
I can take a look in a little bit as well, but I may need an invite to your cluster!
DavidCamelo
@DavidCamelo
I give you access
Seandon Mooy
@erulabs
We should make that more helpfully shown on the KubeSail.com UI, but I believe it's using the wrong restore password
Give me a few moments to look into what happened here :)
Backups are very heavily encrypted, and I believe there is some mixup in how it's trying to decrypt this particular volume
Are you trying to restore from the "Volume" panel, or from the Restore Resources panel?
DavidCamelo
@DavidCamelo
From the valume panel
Volume*
Dan Pastusek
@PastuDan
@DavidCamelo PVC backups that are created by full Resource Backups can't currently be restored manually, except in a very hacky way. The problem is that PVC backup doesnt know its own password. If this is urgent let me know and I can get the password for you
Otherwise that restore functionality is on the roadmap
DavidCamelo
@DavidCamelo
But I was able to restored it in the shared cluster
Seandon Mooy
@erulabs
If you have it on the shared cluster, you should create a VolumeBackup (by clicking the Volume itself and creating a backup with a known password) - then you should be able to restore that anywhere you'd like
The problem is that the complete Namespace Backup and the individual PVC backup aren't playing super nicely together :cry:
DavidCamelo
@DavidCamelo
Got it
Seandon Mooy
@erulabs
We'll get that fixed but are currently working on another issue - so it might take a couple days to get a fix out for that - thanks for pointing that issue out tho!
But yes, ideally, normal volume backups and restores should work more obviously
DavidCamelo
@DavidCamelo
So to restore that PVC I must restore all the resources ?
Seandon Mooy
@erulabs
You should be able to create a new backup of the volume and then restore that backup - the problem is when you try to restore a PVC that was part of the "all resources backup".
Dan Pastusek
@PastuDan
Right. If its a one-off and is urgent, I can help you restore that PVC
But to restore that PVC through the dashboard, you must restore all resources.
DavidCamelo
@DavidCamelo
Yes, please help me restoring only that PVC, I really didn't know I couldn't restore from an all resources backup :(
