@pepstar If you would like to update my tutorials, making them clearer, easier to understand, or by adding images, PLEASE DO!! I absolutely hate writing tutorials. In fact, if you just want to re-write them in their entirety, I'm completely on board with that as well.

We know that Andrew, but thanks for headsup.

@IngeJones if you know that, why are you making the statements you're making and making implications or accusations that Kuree has no idea of the licenses? If you knew that you wouldn't be making said statements

@IngeJones are you sure you read the source code for the 0.2d release?

or just accusing my crappy code as usual?

guys, why is there so much arguing go on in here? To correct a couple statements above no one on the s4s team is irritated with anyone and our plans for s4s are related to using code specifically created for it, a user-interface heavy tool meant for creators, rather than code created for a library like s4pi which is user interface lean (if you look at s4pe as its interface) and meant for coders. The purposes of these two things are very different and the code which works well for one does not suit the other as effectively. Also, we have a new coder on the team who has had a bit of difficulty working with the rather intricate and unique s4pi code. Removing all this will allow this person to be more productive and to have greater familiarity with the code the tool is using. Although Kuree generously offered some code components these sections were already completed using different code sources. There will not be any line of code that is borrowed from s4pi. All code in the tool will be either "homegrown" or taken from other licensed sources. The team is still considering how to license the tool. Certainly, no one wants to discourage other coders from working on this project. Our latest member joined the team after posting in the forum that they wanted to work on S4S. We are actively seeking more coders as a matter of fact. Anyone with a serious interest should not hesitate to speak up.

Seems fair enough to me, OM. I don't know why everyone is trying to see it as a fight. Every tool in the community is another choice for the creators. My only regret is that I think it's a bit of a pity that the s4pe/i project is being run by someone who openly admits they're not that interested in it, when it would benefit so much from a bit more loving attention. That's completely unrelated to s4studio.

You're the one who publicly claims that I didn't do anything about matd
While I was consistently committing code
And fixed matd one month before you claimed that
You are the one who tell people are code has problem when it is the problem that comes from your fix
I was happy coding here and you are the one who brought the simlogical logic here
Arguing with me for almost half an hour
How can I be happy with this project?
Yes I'm a full time student and don't have much time
unlike you
but I sacrifice so much free time devoting on this project and was only told that no one will credit me if I make s4pi/s4pe my second priority
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:11
I'm sorry but coding for s4pe is only my hobby, not my life
I have real life to deal with
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:25
Jesus wept I never claimed any such thing. I said the RCOL chain still had some errors and it did. Not in MATD because you fixed that, and I never said you didn't. The remaining problems were MTST and MODL chunks which hopefully are now fixed. It took three of us contributing to CASP wrapper as we each either made a mistake or didn't know how to do something. Between the three of us we got it working I think. Just what the hell is your problem with that? FFS do cheer up!
Where's the guy with the popcorn?
Vincent Axellius
@Levini
Nov 14 2014 23:29
you called him a dog, so no popcorn for you!
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:29
No I called you a dog :P
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:30
uh really?
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:30
yes, really
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:30
I was working on catalog because you didn't allow me to touch the code
what did you say to the people?
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:31
You asked me to do them
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:31
you said I was busy with it and ignoring the matd stuff
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:31
there is no point you editing the code while I still haven't finished
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:32
I didn't ask you to write the wrapper
just decode it
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:32
I said RCOL not matd. Matd is just one part of it. As a whole RCOL still needed fixing
So you didn't want anyone else writing wrappers?
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:32
not you
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:32
You did ask me to write the wrapper and you admitted that when Zedrael asked you
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:32
you keep telling people your code is superior
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:32
it is
:P
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:32
okay fine
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:33
Peter says it is, and he should know
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:33
I guess I need to graduate as a doctor degree
I didn't follow his rules
the cumbersome s3pi interface
Andrew's implementation is much faster
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:34
yes but that is a different tool
I am interested in s4pe, I am happy studio has code that works well for it
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:34
they don't need it anymore
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:34
thats right...
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:34
actually we
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:35
right...
what news are you telling me?
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:35
I don't want to ban you
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:35
from what?
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:35
disturbing me from writing code
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:35
so stop chatting to me and write
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:35
I was happy coding in this quit place
I need my reputation back
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:36
well banning me will give that back of course.
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:36
no
that's why I didn't ban you
I'm not insane
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:36
look all you have to do is take the care of s4pe people were expecting and hoping for
suddenly your reputation will be great
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:37
with you it will never happen
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:37
I can't stop it happning
they get fed up cos you dismiss feedback and don't release it when there are fixes
its frustrating for creators and modders
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:38
what feedback?
where is it?
did someone tell me in person that something is wrong?
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:39
yes
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:39
where?
resource handler not found problem?
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:39
not that one lol
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:39
then where is it?
I didn't see anything from my issue list
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:40
yes I agree thats annoying but why don't you make an installer so they don't need to unzip?
one time was cmar with the Geom thing on my forum
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:40
the problem itself is not ready for that
oh that time
no one understands geom
it doesn't matter whether it can get fixed or not
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:41
you see thats the kind of attitude people are not appreciating
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:41
so you think I should have fixed it immediately so that everyone can create mesh as they want?
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:41
it was a bug, it was reported, and the reporter was dismissed without thanks
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:41
it's impractical to do meshing in s4pe
uh I just said it's not on the top on my list
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:42
No you told them it was an EA bug
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:42
and I'm pretty she knows it better than me
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:42
in quite an impatient tone
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:42
I didn't
and she's asking me to fix it
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:43
well thats the type of interaction that leave people feeling less positive about you, just saying
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:43
makes sense
maybe that's the reason why cmar hates me
but she never helps me, so it has no impact
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:44
You really could have been held in high esteem as the person taking s4pi forward
all people who report a bug are helping you
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:44
what do you really want?
as I said I can't fix it
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:45
well Peter fixed it
we have it fixed now don't we?
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:45
good for him
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:45
assuming you didn't reject the change
I gave it to you
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:45
his rcol chain has more than three clones
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:45
did you merge it?
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:45
which one?
geom?
of course
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:45
the geom fix he did yes
good so we got a bug report, we investigated and we fixed
bug reports are to be welcomed
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:46
then what else?
which bug report is sent to me directly?
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:47
well we were not so choosy about how the reports arrived, we found them all helpful as a means to making the tool better
it's information
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:48
I don't have so much free time to be a bug investigator
collecting information from several forums
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:48
and even if someone else does the code and gives it to you, you would still get the kudos as the project leader. Where is goes wwrong is when you refuse to accept the code, or delay it so long the other author releases it themself and gets the credit themself
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:49
I don't have the time to check the code
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:49
and yes in my case got the blame for a mistake on casp :D
no one blamed that on you, I accepted the blame
snaitf spotted what was wrong
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:49
I refused the newest pull request because it can be done better
rather than introducing 150 lines of code we can reuse the entire code
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:50
yes it probably can, but then you have the delay which is more frustrating to the end user than having extra code they don't notice
and it's their perception that forms your reputation in the community
you won't get as much thanks for making tight code as you will for getting the tool into their hands, working somehow
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:51
you guys propagate it
Inge coding for s4pe is not my full time job
it is only a hobby
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:52
Anyway, as you seem upset mainly about not getting appreciated I just wanted to say some things I thought of on the subject that might make the difference
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:52
you guys are acting like I own them something
and it's my bad that they can't get every build when a bug is fixed
I can't do that
sorry
each release takes me time to build and check
not simply drag and drop
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:54
s3pe wasn't Peter's full time job either, don't forget
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:54
I have no objection for you guys to distribute the wrapper
it's what s3pe/s4pe designed for
did he release a new version when every tiny bug is fixed?
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:55
he always did when he knew it was a bug that was stopping someone completing a creation
yes then it would be almost same day
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:55
it's not my philosophy
I'm a full time student
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:56
we didn't hurry if it was something that wasn't causing anyone an immediate issue
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:57
I ready make the public release more frequently than before
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:57
Maybe you don't have a good build method that is easy to do in a moment?
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:57
I need to remove some debugging info
and other unnecessary info
and manuelly add the helpers
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:58
I see
Keyi Zhang
@Kuree
Nov 14 2014 23:58
as they're built in different repo
IngeJones
@IngeJones
Nov 14 2014 23:58
Peter had rigged himself a nice script to pack it all up
It wouldn't work for you exactly as it is, cos your things are not in the same place
