    @KristinaHettne_twitter @gravana_twitter @nkmeyers @evertrol I've added to the doc for astro https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZNqzXq9SVfGUSVVkLVtaumWW6jdhk0MIWCgX6qhfipU/edit#heading=h.rbzfrispe34x I was stumped on Thing 2 and 4 but provided some comments to hopeful help. I'm signing out and looking forward to seeing the draft which you'll send to Francois Genova and others.

    Newbie questions ahead...: at DANS in The Hague we're preparing Things about EOSC and FAIR. Q1: is it ok to start a new topic? Q2: we registered in the etherpad https://pad.carpentries.org/2019-lc-mozsprint. Should we register or announce the topic elsewhere too? Q3: Is the info in the November 2018 "Registration and coordination" doc still valid (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XRkKMjqpqO-5wdAd5X8a3Z-0at7F4NOiKCMFSDev53c/edit#heading=h.4qwfeav0o3rv)? Q4: 30-31 May the Dutch typically don't work (Ascension Day + bridge day) so we aim to sprint the days before. What do you require/recommend on 30-31st to stay in touch with "you", the global sprint? Apologies for these last-minute questions and many thanks for your help!
    Paula Andrea Martinez
    @orchid00
    hi @MarjanGrootveld_twitter Did someone answered your questions ? You can work before that's completely alright! If you want to advertise your topic somewhere else that's OK too. This is what I did for my topic top 10 FAIR things for imaging https://characterisation-virtual-laboratory.github.io/CVL_Community/10FAIRthings-progress/ the zoom and gitter details are on the etherpad so as long as you have those you are good to go to stay in touch. Question for you, can I collaborate? I'm interested although my time zone is AEST I am happy to work on it if you share a collaborative document. :)

    Hi @orchid00 Thanks for your answers. Yes, please join us. The very drafty draft is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Gw877MHdCC5Vl2yKV6QDAaui4DaOFy9Gd4dhWSGVIZ8/edit Today and tomorrow some of us (see the doc) will collate links, and we plan to do the bulk of writing on Wednesday

    @MarjanGrootveld_twitter how wonderful! I've just popped a reference into your miscellaneous links section for your writing tomorrow which might be useful!

    Hello 🤓 another DANSer here working on different topic! We are creating easy guidelines which help explain the WHY (and the how) of the steps to turn a dataset into Linked Open Data. Doing our absolute best to avoid jargon and tech talk! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zJ3X29PbzHaKYVJz85A0qfS-eocpd7B1YlbyBEOt798/edit# We are sprinting today and anyone is welcome to dive in 🖥🖱🌍

    Hi @ragamouf_twitter Thank you, that was a nice surprise ;-)

    @MarjanGrootveld_twitter beaming I felt a little like a knowitall barging in, but it just looks so useful I couldn't not share it!

    Hi all, we've started work on the EOSC&FAIR topic and hope to make it understandable ;-) We're sprinting today and anyone is welcome to join. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Gw877MHdCC5Vl2yKV6QDAaui4DaOFy9Gd4dhWSGVIZ8/edit#
    Chris Erdmann
    @libcce
    Hi @MarjanGrootveld_twitter this is great! Will you be adding exercises for EOSC&FAIR? This will be really helpful for those who have heard about EOSC and want to become more familiar with it .
    Marjan Grootveld
    @MarjanGrootveld_twitter
    Hi @libcce Thanks for your feedback! Exercises would indeed be helpful, but we don't know any for the combination FAIR and EOSC... Any suggestions?
    Chris Erdmann
    @libcce
    @MarjanGrootveld_twitter there are some examples here https://librarycarpentry.org/Top-10-FAIR/
    Can be a number of things from reading a guide to registering for a service...
    Whatever you think is best to give someone hands on experience with EOSC
    Hardest part is weeding down the information into the core bit of information/concept that you want people to take away
    under each Thing
    BTW @GerardCoen_twitter I'm looking forward to diving into your doc later! Definitely a good topic to address!
    Marjan Grootveld
    @MarjanGrootveld_twitter
    @libcce Thank you; we'll see what we can fit it that's attractive and not too "EC-bureaucratic".
    Chris Erdmann
    @libcce
    That will be great @MarjanGrootveld_twitter !

    @orchid00 Hi Paula, how's work on the image Things progressing? At DANS we've worked on EOSC Things today, and there's certainly room for additions and/or exercises (see also Chris' suggestions in this channel), so feel free. Friday our time (CEST) Frans will pick it up again and do some editing, and then we'll hand it over ;-)
    Paula Andrea Martinez
    @orchid00
    Hi! just starting my day here, will work on organising, cleaning and adding activities for the 10FAIR things for imaging. I will look at the eosc things later today, early morning for you @MarjanGrootveld_twitter

    @orchid00
    Question, are controlled vocabularies the same as ontologies? thoughts?
    Matthias Liffers
    @mpfl
    I'm a librarian and I'm not entirely sure :-P
    But I would say that they're not the same.
    A controlled vocabulary can be as simple as an enumerated list of agreed terms. An ontology is about relationships between concepts.
    It's like a list of species names vs the entire binomial nomenclature system.
    Paula Andrea Martinez
    @orchid00
    great thanks @mpfl
    Aswin Narayanan
    @aswinnarayanan
    Hi @orchid00. W3 has some comments on ontology v vocab
    https://www.w3.org/standards/semanticweb/ontology
    Paula Andrea Martinez
    @orchid00
    thanks @aswinnarayanan
    Paula Andrea Martinez
    @orchid00
    Can anyone share with me some (international/national/local) resources about What are publishers and funders saying about FAIR data?
    Paula Andrea Martinez
    @orchid00
    Matthias Liffers
    @mpfl
    Also Nature has a bit in their "Further reading" section: https://www.nature.com/authors/policies/availability.html#further
    Both of those refer to the "Enabling Fair Data Project": https://copdess.org/enabling-fair-data-project/enabling-fair-project-overview/
    Paula Andrea Martinez
    @orchid00
    Thanks @mpfl will dive into it
    Liz Stokes
    @ragamouf_twitter
    @orchid00 it probably depends on what kind of ontology you are talking about. @mpfl your description is great and librarian suspicions serve you well!
    Paula Andrea Martinez
    @orchid00

    @orchid00 also - back on your question about publishers and funders - have a look at these slides from a Taylor&Francis "Scholarly Summit" in Feb 2019 - disclaimer I presented at the Sydney event. https://editorresources.taylorandfrancis.com/events/melbourne-scholarly-summit-2019/
