Sorry I was on my cellphone and I guess I managed to both misread what you have said and write nonsense.
I haven't pursued that specialization, but I would if I had some spare time. The Data Mining specialization looks nice too, I participated in the Clustering class and I think it was worth my time.
Any members of this meetup are going to be present in LXMLS?

Very nice!!
Last year the topic was learning with big data right? What where the most important ideas you retained from the sessions?
Maybe you could give a talk on the matter
A good format for talks would be to share the topics we are more confortable with. Win - Win

well, the main idea that I retained from last year was that it was mostly in NLP area but a great experience

Everyone who presented on meetup#1 will be there
Miguel and Ekaterina as organizers, and myself as a n00b.

That's nice to read, text mining is a field of ML I know very little about, so I am also a n00b. :) Regarding NLP the most I did was twitter sentiment analysis in "Introduction to Data Science" (coursera).

if you want to learn more about NLP, there's a great course from stanford
It covers the kappa statistic, Miguel briefly talked about it in the last session when he raised the prevalence issue. (the metric that takes into account random chance)
It's available in {caret}: confusionmatrix. :)

Hi everyone! I was trying Quandl the other day and I did this basic walkthrough on using Quandl with R. I'll leave it here in case some of you may find it useful.
I have a proposition, develop a secret machine learning bot to become the best player in the game, "brawlhalla", which is made in flash. Just wondering where I can go to talk about accomplishing this! I'm thinking I either go in and write some flash to record the information sent to me and the information I send (player stats, character, ELO, keypresses, latency) or I record the screen and the keypresses. Either way I have the game as the input and a winning game as the goal.

Hi guys! Here's a cool free resource. 4 week long course on machine learning (with lectures from Mila profs. including Yoshua Bengio). Korbit was founded by two PhD researchers from the Mila research lab and Cambridge university founded Korbit with a mission to democratize education. We launched Korbit's first course on machine learning in collaboration with Mila, The Quebec AI Institute. The best part is that we created an AI, Korbi, that teaches the fundamentals of AI. Pretty cool stuff!
