Nikola Marčetić
@nmarcetic

@nmarcetic @drasko thanks for the support. I'll go through the opened issues and mark the once which I think that are good first time issues during the weekend. If you want you can also discuss this internally and depending on the roadmap maybe open more first time issues if you want

@chombium Deal ^ :+1:

Nikola Marčetić
@nmarcetic
@chombium , @drasko made a good-rist-issue label on all issues that we planed for new contributors and old ones :) who are willing to help and support opensource.
Please feel free to make a hacktoberfest label so we can participate, its great idea really don't want to miss it :)
https://github.com/mainflux/mainflux/issues
Let us know if you need any help or if we need to do something more to be part of hacktoberfest

@exocode
Is it possible to connect Mainflux to two Databases at the same time(MongoDB AND PostGresQL)? Or do I have to choose one? (If yes, can someone provide me an example, please?
Drasko DRASKOVIC
@drasko
It's possible to connect it to an arbitrary nb of databases and applications
@exocode all messages are published on NATS
you can spin as much Writers or any other applications that subscribe to NATS topics and write messages into DB
For start you can use addons, and spin both PostgreSQL and MongoDB addon services
and it should work out of the box

@chombium
@drasko @nmarcetic Sorry for the delay about marking the issues with the #hacktoberfest label. I was sick for last week and I could not do it. Now I realized that because I don't have write permissions to the repo I can not create the label. Could someone of you please create the "hacktoberfest" label so that I can apply it to the issues tonight/tomorrow?
Drasko DRASKOVIC
@drasko
Let me do it
Drasko DRASKOVIC
@drasko
@chombium @nmarcetic done

@chombium
@nmarcetic @drasko thanks for help. I've set the "hacktoberfest" label to all our issues marked with "good-first-issue" and we show up in the search Now we wait :) and maybe tweet that we take part in hacktoberfest ;)
Drasko DRASKOVIC
@drasko
Thanks @chombium

Hi there! I'm trying to simulate LoRa nodes and gateways with https://github.com/donadonny/lora-pktgen, but I really don't know how to use it, I tried with help command, I can't run the CLI, there is any documentation to a really begging user?
Drasko DRASKOVIC
@drasko
This tool is never implemented

@wayzinfratek
influxdb writter is not working ... 8900 by InfluxDB writer service is not being used
what am i doing wrong
service container is running
messages are bring posted but nothing gets written...
Jovan Kostovski
@chombium
@wayzinfratek you need to start the influx writer separately. Check https://github.com/mainflux/mainflux/blob/master/writers/influxdb/README.md#using-docker-compose for details

@lizhanglz
Hi Guys, thanks for your great work. I am testing the latest Mainflux and found out when publishing messages through HTTP or Websocket, the messages cannot be received by MQTT sub. However, when publishing using MQTT, the messages can be received by both MQTT and Websocket. I don't believe this is by design so I am asking have you guys seen this behavior too. Thanks a lot.
Drasko DRASKOVIC
@drasko
@lizhanglz yes, we noticed this bug today, will be fixed tomorrow
Ivan Milošević
@blokovi
Hi @lizhanglz , you probably didn't add content type to MQTT subscription (/ct/<content-type>). It is documented here: https://mainflux.readthedocs.io/en/latest/messaging/#mqtt
For example, if you send message over HTTP with application/json content type (Mainflux UI send it like this under the hood), you should then subscribe to MQTT topic channels/<channel_id>/messages/ct/application_json
Ivan Milošević
@blokovi
Or if you send HTTP messages with application/senml+json content type (like examples in Mainflux documentation), then you should subscribe to MQTT topic channels/<channel_id>/messages/ct/application_senml-json
Li
@lizhanglz
@drasko Thanks and I am looking forward to it.
Li
@lizhanglz
@blokovi Thank you for your reply. Yes you are right if I have MQTT listen to topic channels/<channel_id>/messages/ct/application_json I will receive the messages sent from the UI HTTP. This provides the feature so the listener can filter out messages by subtopics/content-types. However if I am not mistaken, the intention of the design is that if you sub to a parent topic such as channels/<channel_id>/messages the listener should receive all the messages including the ones with subtopics.
Ivan Milošević
@blokovi
for all subtopics you can subscribe with wildcard like this channels/<channel_id>/messages/#
Li
@lizhanglz
@blokovi Thanks! It works by appending #.
dheivendiran
@dheivendiran
Is it possible to receive all devices messages using single subscription? Because MQTT subscription receives messages of only one device.
Drasko DRASKOVIC
@drasko
@dheivendiran on MQTT it is not, because auth mechanism can not permit this. This can be mitigated with groups, when they are finished.
In the meantime, you can SUB to NATS, like Normalizer is doing
and get all messages from all vhannels
dheivendiran
@dheivendiran
@drasko Thanks for your reply. Also please let me know what is the port, address or path, and subject the nats provides from mainflux to subscribe. I have installed mainflux using docker.
Drasko DRASKOVIC
@drasko
@dheivendiran you can find all of these in docker-compose and official documentation
Start by looking at docker-compose.yaml in GitHub repo
As I mentioned, you can also look how Normalizer service subscribes
Ondrej Rehacek
@olirehacek
Hey guys, can you help me with setting up anonymous access in grafana docker ? How can i do that when Grafana is running out of Mainflux docker. ?
Jovan Kostovski
@chombium
Hi @olirehacek you need to create a custom docker compose with which you will have to set some grafana envvars. Please check the following links https://mainflux.readthedocs.io/en/latest/dev-guide/#overriding-the-default-docker-compose-configuration https://riamf.github.io/posts/dockerized_grafana_setup/ . The first link describes how to override the config and the second is grafana installation guide which disables the the authentication. The paragraph of interest is Creating grafana docker image. You need to add environment section which will add the envvars. Check the original influxdb writer grafana setup here
