Thanks, Makuna! I tried the latest commit with a test program that always produced the green problem. The problem no longer occurs!
I don't want to crack open the champagne just yet... but since using the latest commit.... I've not had a single green flash...
wish i could say the same for my other problems... the latest commits on the IDE have caused havoc for me...
I've rolled back to a commit that was flashing.. and it is not... so i think u've figured it out! good work! the green pixel party might be over!
I'm going to say definitely over! not a flash or off colour first pixel...
AWESOME, I also can confirm that indeed I was mislead by thinking I have found a solution, sorry for the confusion. And I can fortunately also confirm that by now, even after doing several changes in my code the green blinking pixel is does not show up :-)

Remember, try the Animator branch if you are working with esp8266, there is some interesting features including HslColor object.
