I'm trying multiple branches of this library, is there a good strategy how to switch branches from within the sketch? For now, I'm just keeping one branch under the libraries folder at a time.

I use the github app, and just select the branch I want to play with and then rebuild. Right now Arduino doesn't like it live in more than one location.
At some point once the best version for esp8266 becomes known, and Dmadriven is the current best, then I will merge it all down into the NeoPixelAnimator branch and get rid of the others. One branch to rule them all.

Ah yeah that's an easy trick. Doing that with my own projects, didn't realize it'll work with libraries too

Master is still around just for small avr which still has missing function.h for some reason.
Git is so fast, and that app makes it easy to switch.

My 2 cents is that I'm using uart as I'm using esp01. So no have gpio3..

Good point!
I haven't used my esp01 for a while, I need to include this issue in the docs so it's obvious for people to pick.
Just a noye, I am not sure the new library manager support even works with branches??

I actually use platformio and sublime and really like it. So can't comment on the manager. I prefer as u say to just switch over the git branch!
