we can do.... but.. have you got yourself an ESP and some WS2812s yet?
marksev1
@marksev1
Apr 04 2016 11:10
nah ws2812 still arriving :D
but I'm afraid if I upload something outrageous on it that I could brick it or something :D

its probably best to wait then... its kinda hard, well very hard... to make progress if you can't actually see the effect your changes have. you have to start simple and build up, working out how and why things work or don't work. very hard to do without and LEDs
no chance of damaging the ESP with code.

I'm so impatient :D
prolly cause I'm hyped about these led stuff :D
btw sticilface
would it be possible to diy like a sort of a led-bulb with these ws2812s
like a hue clone or somehing :D

understandable, but it takes a lot of time for someone to read, understand and debug someone else code.. so its best to keep it to the last resort when you've tried yourself and simply can't work it out... if that makes sense... most of the time i've solved things myself trying to recreate the problem, or even just explain it...

now I'm gonna use strips and make like "mood lights" and lights in cabinets with strips
but what about a led-bulb, is it possible to diy :D

I've written a phillips-hue clone, but it is not very good due to the way phillips have written their protocol... involves huge json files...
I just use the strips so can't comment

I'm more interested in the hardware side if it would be possible to stick enough ws2812 led those readymade circles into the bulb to be able to light something up
:D
@sticilface how do you have your strips, just in cabinets and stuff or also on the ceiling to light up a room :D

sticil any chance you could add mqtt hsl color wheel support to your sketch? Like that I send separate messages for h, s and l
or hsb I mean
I have hsb implemented now in that node-red color wheel

Can you add it as an issue, with an example of how u want it. I'll take a look...
It gets pretty complicated down in the inners of this thing, though
all handled by json internally.. blah, blah, blah...
what sort of values floats, or uint8_t ?

@sticilface
Apr 04 2016 16:57
I'd have to think about it as right now color is all handled without type by arduinojson.. so it would have to be an additional layer of translation.. but that would break the handling of everything else as the json object is passed around through everything...

@marksev1 v2.0.8 includes the DMA fixes. The release does not include a fix for complex sketches that use gamma, (sticilface code) but the master branch has the fix.
