Try to get rpi to work as AP for UDP broadcasting... I previously had a RPI connected to ESP8266 to send UDP data. It worked great wirelessly. However, I figure it maybe more efficient to set the rpi up as the AP hotspot and serving the UDP data to the ESP8266 client. removing the esp8266 working as the wifi AP host. I followed this example and got it to work https://frillip.com/using-your-raspberry-pi-3-as-a-wifi-access-point-with-hostapd/
however if I disconnect the ethernet cable from RPI, the UDP data fails, when I do a test without ethernet cable I get socket.error network is unreachable. Is there some fundamental flaw in my logic. That setting up the rpi as AP does not work for UDP?
or is there a way to for the UDP socket to hook into the UDP socket of the AP? Sorry for layman terminology.
