@jdeubel we are investigating, we have no new fixes for them at this time. They are #1 priority.

@dmetzger57 are we able to run through anything just wanted to update them with any findings or just to tell them what we are doing if anything

@jdeubel yes the db is loaded and the execution profile is being looked at. effort to isolate the biggest performance impacters is going on, then time will be spent to see what gains can be made in the 5.4.z tree.

looks like service.service_id is basically parent_id - so we're making a slew of queries that may be difficult to optimize

anyone played with a) with queries in postgres and active record. Or b) with recursive?

our services model has a parent_id column - well, it is called service_id...
our descent and then calling the subsequent service objects is causing an N+1 that is tricky to fix. resulting in 9,481 queries to the services table
and I think it can be brought down to ~2
hope to get the 60s page down to 10s
@matthewd does rails 5 support a with type query out of the box?

do I convert it into an inner join?

To state the obvious, you're still doing a load of index lookups — if it Really Matters, the best option could still be switching to ancestry or similar
