@kbrock Thanks for the update, I'm watching the PR. Moving to truncate is a fantastic plan IMHO. :+1:

@NickLaMuro sys-proctable coming along, got everything converted to rspec. Just deciding how to package things now.
with bundler being bundler, thinking of just pushing out a single gem, no more platform specific gems
that would mean cheating a bit, since i would be adding an ffi dependency for platforms that don't necessarily require one
on the other hand, i think the odds of ffi being a dependency at some point anyway in any serious ruby/rails project approaches 100 percent

@kbrock would it be possible to use tools/purge_metrics.rb to try and force some cleanup of the metrics_* tables?

@rvalente he is on PTO today, so you might not get a response
@djberg96 Sorry, I saw this earlier, read it, then didn't respond... oops

Possibly, though, of the what looks like 5 gems in our project that require ffi:

  • One is vmware-web-service, which also relies on another ffi based disk lib gem
  • one is gssapi (google api?)
  • Two are yours ;)

Though not sure how true or not true that claim is

@NickLaMuro possibly, so this will fall into the "tough cookies" category
