@MarshallOfSound the macOS/linux build fails on circle CI due to problem with the credentials. Can you look and fix this please?

I just wanted to say, this music player is great! I really like the user-assignable hotkeys. I switched over to YTM, and everything is working flawlessly in Windows 10. Keep up the great work, everyone!

Hi all, new here. I was poking around the project and the documentation. I thought it would be fun to get it pulled down and running locally, but I'm running into build issues. Running a Mac Mini (OS X 10.15) using NVM with environments set to Node 6.16.1 and NPM 3.10.10. When I run npm install, I'm failing on the following:

npm ERR! mdns@2.5.1 install: `node-gyp rebuild`
npm ERR! Exit status 1
npm ERR!
npm ERR! Failed at the mdns@2.5.1 install script 'node-gyp rebuild'.
npm ERR! Make sure you have the latest version of node.js and npm installed.
npm ERR! If you do, this is most likely a problem with the mdns package,
npm ERR! not with npm itself.
npm ERR! Tell the author that this fails on your system:
npm ERR!     node-gyp rebuild
npm ERR! You can get information on how to open an issue for this project with:
npm ERR!     npm bugs mdns
npm ERR! Or if that isn't available, you can get their info via:
npm ERR! npm owner ls mdns
npm ERR! There is likely additional logging output above.

Anyone around that would be willing to help me troubleshoot?

@Nithindanday
can somebody help me understand how authentication for the rpc api works?
its probably using oath?
Jesse Ostrander
@jostrander
The documentation on the build tools is highly outdated
node 10 is recommended and latest npm
There are also local development dependencies for each system that are required, like xcode, msvs, etc
building on windows is probably the worst experience, as I recently discovered
Jesse Ostrander
@jostrander
@Nithindanday Are you talking about the playbackApi? its just a generated code

@Alipoodle
Given the fact that their PR they used of mine is for Discord-RPC.
Discord Rich presences is done locally and is all behind the scenes. Theres nothing you really need to change for it to work.

@kwandrews7
holy moly. huge shoutout to @jostrander . i had tried the latest node. the node on the documentation and a few random variants and couldn't get anywhere. node 10 was the trick.
