    How do you know which device send the telemetry to iothub?
    Right now when a telemetry is sent a event happens and then there is some code executing in azure functions making a http request to my api but how do I get the deviceid of the device that send the telemetry in azure functions portals
    brodbor
    @brodbor
    @Ogieeeeee - device twin has support for devide id, but you can also embed it in the message body , in case you have one device with multiple sensors(or IoT edge). It is easy to query for device, just check this artcicle out: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/iot-hub/iot-hub-devguide-query-language

    Just like many others, it doesn't matter which firmware I put in my board, I can't deploy a simply hello-world because of the OpenOCD issue. I tried in both Linux and Windows.

    Ok I found the problem... for some reason it doesn't work if you directly open the device folder via vscode and then try to provision azure services
    but you have to open it as a workspace?

    Hi, sorry for the noob question but I received my kit today, followed the getting started example and instructions and everything good until I try to upload code the device. For some reason VSCode cannot find the OpenOCD binary for AZ3166 even though I have checked the install and can see the correct Library directory and all of the underlying folder structures and openocd files. I've checked the directory and can see that no bin directory exists so it looks like it needs manually compiling before use. I've followed the README's but even then make && make install does not create the correct bin folders and contents. I am on a Mac and get this specific error message: ava.io.IOException: Cannot run program "/Users/<home directory>/Library/Arduino15/packages/AZ3166/tools/openocd/0.10.0/macosx/bin/openocd"
    Any help much appreciated!
    Exactly the same issue that @ptalmeida @DiomedesDominguez and @hongqiangwang are experiencing

    Hi I am running the beginner tutorial https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/samples/azure-samples/mxchip-iot-devkit-get-started/sample/ and I am in the section Configure and compile device code. I have finished the last step Azure IoT Device Workbench: Upload Device Code but and I receive the "Uploaded the sketch: GetStarted.ino" but then nothing happens. I don't receive anything on the serial port. How can I debug this?

    Hi again, I am trying to update the firmware on my MXChip. When I drag the .bin file to the disk I get an error saying the disk is read-only. After some digging it turns out the 'DETAILS' file on the devkit is encrypted. I have tried the other methods to make the drive writeable, any suggestions on how to 'decrypt' the details file so I can upgrade the device to the latest firmware? Thanks in advance.

    Has anyone had trouble creating a new Azure IoT Device Workbench project through VS command palette? I keep getting an error that says " Running the contributed command: 'iotcube.fsMkDir' failed."

    Same error as @scockeri - it seems like the AZ3166 board package downloaded from Arduino doesn't properly compile openocd, because the binary is nowhere to be found

    @jackpeplinski you can power it via usb or the edge connector

    I am trying to go through the Getting Started with the Azure IoT Developer Kit via MS Code. I am having the following problems:
    DougAtClir
    @DougAtClir
    1. The MX Chip does not show any messages in VS Code in the S2C monitor.
    2. Nothing is reported in the Serial monitor.
    3. I noticed that the Azure IoT connection string that you are prompted for requires a SharedAccessKeyId and SharedAccessKeyName. If I right-click my device in the AZURE IOT HUB and select "Copy Device Connection String", I get a connection string that contains a DeviceId.
    DougAtClir
    @DougAtClir
    1. The Azure portal reports some messages have been sent (but no way to see the messages).
    2. I cannot enable diagnostics on the Azure portal because it won't let be save settings after I have selected the diagnostics and metrics.
    3. I am trying to reset the MXChip but holding buttons A and B down for over 1 minute has no effect.
    4. The documentation seems to be from May 2017. Is there a third-party site available with more up-to-date documentation?

    Hello,
    I changed my code from mongoose os to use the C SDK. I can send messages but the example for esp32 (https://github.com/Azure/azure-sdk-for-c-arduino/blob/main/examples/Azure_IoT_Hub_ESP32/Azure_IoT_Hub_ESP32.ino) output message is not clear to me. I have an azure function to get the message and put it into azure table storage but it gives me the following error:

    [Error] Executed 'Functions.EventHubTriggerJS' (Failed, Id=f2317aa0-5742-4857-a318-19369ae15400, Duration=1ms)
    Binding parameters to complex objects (such as 'Object') uses Json.NET serialization.
    1. Bind the parameter type as 'string' instead of 'Object' to get the raw values and avoid JSON deserialization, or
    2. Change the queue payload to be valid json. The JSON parser failed: Unexpected character encountered while parsing value: E. Path 'deviceID', line 1, position 14.

    The code for my azure function is in nodejs and I use table API to store it in table (I know I can use binding too but want to use the API):

    const entity = {
                PartitionKey: "ESP32,
                RowKey: new Date().getTime().toString(),
                distance: iotHubMessage.x,
            };
            await client.createEntity(entity)

    I must say that it was working before (with previous sdks). The code was:

    char buff[128];
    float x = (float)random(0, 100);
    sniprintf(buff, 256, messageData, "123", x);
    if (Esp32MQTTClient_SendEvent(buff)):
    ....

    I also wanted to see how can I debug azure functions which are triggered by iotHub events. It was working few days ago when I was running the debugger and send messages to iotHub, but suddenly stopped working. Now I cannot use vscode debugger and check the messages and debug. It makes everything more difficult.
