    Sorry @JerryYangKai it was the fault of a bad micro usb cable. The device was powering up so I assumed it was fine.

    Hello, I'm trying the DevKit Translator example with DevKit Firmware 1.6.3 and 1.6.5 but unable to connect to Azure. It deploys something to Azure Function, but when it comes to the translation process, it always display "Sorry, can't hear" in OLED screen and in serial monitor "Azure Function fails". There's also some error in VSCode Problems tab, such as: Duplicate 'System.Reflection.AssemblyCompanyAttribute' attribute [Functions], and when I monitor Azure Function stream it says: Microsoft.CognitiveServices.Speech.core.dll or its dependencies cannot be found.
    Am I missing something? I've read and done the whole tutorial, also done some googling but still confused on what to do to resolve this.

    Hello, I'm not sure if this is a relevant question, but i'm not able to find the Contoso template on IoT Central Azure Application and I was wondering where it went.

    Nvm, turns out I was using a newer version of .NET Core SDK. When I try to use the 2.1 version, it runs perfectly well

    I try to connect my DevKit to MPU6050 sensor using DevKit's SCL & SDA I2C pins, but it always returns can't read the MPU6050 address. I've checked the MPU6050 and it works fine with other device, so it isn't MPU's fault. I have tried using some Arduino libraries and none works out. Does anyone have any suggestion on why it wasn't working out?

    Hi. I have just had an intresting problem where one of our internal DNS servers went offline and the IoT Dev Kit wasnt looking for the other DNS servers. All other devices could find the second DNS such as a Windows 10 HP laptop and a Raspberry PI 3 running Raspbian. It was like the device was only looking at one DNS and not attempting to look for any others. I was looking through the libraries to see if i could manually set a DNS for the devices however this does not seem to exist. I was looking for something like the Arduino WiFi.config https://www.arduino.cc/en/Reference/WiFiConfig . I was wandering if there is a way to manually set the DNS of these devices?

    Hi, I'm desperately trying to get my iot-devkit to work on my windows 10 laptop but no luck. My last hope is that someone in here could give me a hint what I'm doing wrong :) . I'm using this tutorial: https://microsoft.github.io/azure-iot-developer-kit/docs/get-started/ and I'm stuck at step 5 - the serial port. When I'm loading the GetStarted example I get just "No serial port is available" and <Select Serial Port> doesn't show any ports but when I'm loading the MXChip IoT DevKit samples VoiceRecord - I can see the port "COM1" but when I click it it says "No serial port is available". I don't get what's wrong in my setup.
    I've tried to find out which versions of visual studio code, extension versions, Arduino IDE and the ST-link drivers I should use, since it seems to be some issues using different versions together. I started off with all latest versions in the setup and it didn't work either.
    I'm using the following setup right now:
    WINDOWS version:
    Windows 10 Home 18362.535
    VISUAL STUDIO CODE:
    Version: 1.40.2 (system setup)
    Commit: f359dd69833dd8800b54d458f6d37ab7c78df520
    Date: 2019-11-25T14:54:45.096Z
    Electron: 6.1.5
    Chrome: 76.0.3809.146
    Node.js: 12.4.0
    V8: 7.6.303.31-electron.0
    OS: Windows_NT x64 10.0.18362
    ARDUINO:
    v1.8.6
    ST-LINK driver:
    downloaded the en.stsw-link009 file

    someone help me pls... I really want this to work :)

    @AnkiJoelsson Hi, in step 5, it said 'In the bottom-right status bar, check the MXCHIP AZ3166 is shown as selected board and serial port with STMicroelectronics is used'. So I want to know have you got 'the MXCHIP AZ3166' show below?
    AnkiJoelsson
    @AnkiJoelsson
    @JerryYangKai Hi! :) Yes it is the selected board and when I click on it to open the Arduino Board Configuration it says 'MXCHIP AZ3166 (MXChip - Microsoft Azure IoT Developer Kit)' - Upload method: 'OpenOCD'. But clicking on the <Select Serial Port> gives me 'No serial port is available'.
    tisa
    @tisa_ia_twitter
    @AnkiJoelsson is it similar to this?

    AnkiJoelsson
    @AnkiJoelsson
    @tisa_ia_twitter Yes, I understood that they had fixed the problem on Nov 15 for the Arduino extension version 0.2.28. I installed it but I still have the same problem. Maybe I need to change some other things as well to make it work? This is brand new to me and it's a bit difficult to try to find out what's missing in this setup :)

    @AnkiJoelsson I tried to repro your problem. I reproed it when my devkit have not connected to my laptop. So I suggested you to check your usb line, it may got some problem. And the second suggestion is our doc is updated, you can follow the new tutorials in https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/samples/azure-samples/mxchip-iot-devkit-get-started/sample/. Thanks.

    I've been setting IoT devkit and running through the "get started" project. When I have uploaded the code to the device and start serial monitor I get the error message: socketio_mbed_os5.c (ln 212): Socketio_Failure: encountered unknow connection issue. Anyone know what is wrong?

    I am having problems wit connecting MXCHip to DPS , getting the error on the MXCHIP.....DPS FAILED on the screen
    Anyone have set MXCHIP with DPS?
    JerryYang
    @JerryYangKai
    @RakeLund Hi, RackLund. I think this problem may caused by wi-fi's weak signal. Devkit has disconnected from wi-fi then printed this log.

    @JerryYangKai
    @SQLDataSide Hi, Shahriar Nikkhah. You can follow this tutorials https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/samples/azure-samples/mxchip-iot-devkit-dps/sample/. I suggest do not leave registrationId as blank in STEP 'Update the Global Device Endpoint and ID Scope in device code' . And in STEP 'Generate X.509 certificate', follow '1.Specified the registrationId' and input same registrationId.
    JerryYang
    @JerryYangKai
    @SQLDataSide And I strongly suggest using version 1.6.5 to test this sample.

    hi i am looking for a code that i can use in a MXCHIP DEV KIT, it needs to

    1- Must use WIFI
    2- Must use Azure Function call
    3- The Azure function will insert data into a blob or SQL
    4- when setting up the WIFI parameter i want to be able to pass the Functions parameter as well (.bin file)
    5- mxchip will pass something simple like temp.
    6- i want my
    .bin file be in a way so that i do not need VS or VSCode to be installed on my machine

    Can someone help ????????, Thanks

    @jakubsvobodacz wilde guess, i had something similer and i found out that i was not using the MXChip cable from the box i changes the cable and it worked.
    and about the link it is working perfectly, i am sure that it is just a simple basic step that youmight be missing

    Hi guys, I'm trying to deploy Azure MXChip IoT DevKit Translator (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/samples/azure-samples/mxchip-iot-devkit-translator/sample/) but when I try to Azure IoT Device Workbench: Configure Device Settings... > Config Device Connection String. Select Select IoT Hub Device Connection String I get Writing to COM port (GetOverlappedResult): operation aborted

    Do you know how can I investigate it and fix it? To be honest, I don't know where even I can check the logs

    Hello, for an unknown reason, the code i was using for 2 years for my MXChip, seems to not be valid anymore:
    Stupid error like cannot open source file "windows.h" (dependency of "FATFileSystem.h")C/C++(1696)
    appears. Any idea on how to fix it ? [ if was working a few weeks ago, and i changed nothing , can it be a package update that messed it up ?

    Hi. Brand new to this community. I'm trying to connect a Ultimate GPS Breakout v3 to the MXChip board. I noticed that the MXChip has a 3v out and the GPS has a VIN rated at 5v. I'm a newbie with hardware, so I'm not sure I can connect these two boards. Anyone use this GPS board with MXChip? Can you give me the pin connections between the two?

    @ArthurMa1978 in April 2018 you solved a problem for me with building.bin files that cen be put directley onto the dev kits. GenerarteBinFile. I know have working code that incorporates OTA. When i try and generate the bin file now it cant install the update. Am i missing somehting simple that i need to include to get this to work with OTA

    Using "iotc-devkit-1.9.11-preview.bin" firmware, I can't seem to find a capability model that lists all the sensor properties or allows executes commands in Iot Central. I've tried to expand the capability set provided at official site, https://catalog.azureiotsolutions.com/details?title=MXChip-IoT-DevKit but no other telemetry other than Pressure, Humidity or Pressure gets loaded or any command executes.
    Usman UrRehman Ahmed
    @usman_ur_rehman_twitter
    So apparently the latest build of firmware is pushing telemetry of Gyroscope, magnetometer and accelerometer as nested object "magnetometer":
    {"x":-154,"y":-91,"z":-32} whereas the Dev Kit capability model doesn't support telemetry exposed as nested JSON. If it does, an example would be helpful.
    Usman UrRehman Ahmed
    @usman_ur_rehman_twitter
    Just today, without changing anything locally, the commands have started working back on the Iot Central site as well as the Shared Signature tokens are also yielding positive response via Rest API. (y)
    JerryYang
    @JerryYangKai
    @usman_ur_rehman_twitter The Iot Central doesnot support these type of nested object like {"x":-154,"y":-91,"z":-32} . I have raised an issue to them and it will be supported in the future. Until then I will update the capability model.

    @JerryYangKai How do I connect devkit-firmware-1.6.5.bin with IOThub? I want to send all the sensor data to IoThub but IoT GetStarted is very limited.
    JerryYang
    @JerryYangKai
    @sanjaydatasciencedojo IoT GetStarted just showed how to connect devkit with hub. I think you can extend it. API's link https://microsoft.github.io/azure-iot-developer-kit/docs/apis/hts221/.
    @sanjaydatasciencedojo Some tips. Editing readMessage() and adding some new functions like readTemperature() in utility.cpp to add new sensor.
