Sorry if that's a stupid question - I'm not sure how it all works
    Arthur Ma
@duncangallimore the upload command include the compile, so upload directly is ok
Sorry - I'm still getting the problem, and when I open the .cpp file I get 67 problems listed so I'm not sure it would compile(?)
    Renhe Li
@duncangallimore, it is compiled. Seems the problem is not solved, could you open serial monitor when running the program and check the error log there?
Ah - I hadn't realised the serial monitor would show errors:

    Error: Time:Fri Nov 2 09:20:20 2018 File:C:\Users\dgallimore\AppData\Local\Arduino15\packages\esp32\hardware\esp32\1.0.0\libraries\AzureIoT\src\az_iot\iothub_client\src\iothubtransport_mqtt_common.c Func:mqtt_error_callback Line:1346 Mqtt Ping Response was not encountered. That's the first error I get
It's then unresponsive and I get Info: tlsio_openssl_close has been called when in neither TLSIO_STATE_OPEN nor TLSIO_STATE_ERROR.

@duncangallimore ,the mqtt connection was closed so the device could no longer send messages to the cloud. There seems to be a bug here as the retry logic was not triggered in this case.
Okay thanks - I've changed the logic for reconnecting and it works! This is now looking really good...
Ah - I'm starting to understand how it works. The reconnect errors:

    Thanks again
Hello, I followed the instructions at https://microsoft.github.io/azure-iot-developer-kit/docs/get-started/ for the AZ3166 board, but Arduino is installed as an app, so I changed the arduino.path to "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\ArduinoLLC.ArduinoIDE_1.8.19.0_x86__mdqgnx93n4wtt". I set the arduino.additionalurls as on the webpage, but it still isn't finding the az3166 board for arduino: board manager. I do see "[Error] Exit with code = EPERM . I'd love to get this working!!!

@lsaidman ,this is a known issue and it is not solved yet. Microsoft/vscode-arduino#145 Could you use the normal installation package for Arduino IDE instead?
Good idea! I already tried it and Arduino IDE redirected back to the App store. Any instructions to get it to install "normal"?
    Renhe Li
I did not quite understand 'Arduino IDE redirected back to App store'. So could you uninstall the one from Windows store and install from https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software?
That worked! When I tried before, I must have clicked on "Windows App" instead of "Windows Installer for Windows XP and up" because I didn't read the "and up". Thanks!

Hi. What has to be defined/included to get automatic pin names like A0, A1, D1, D2 ... to work like the Arduino IDE which includes the name-pin-mapping with the right selection of the board?
Link to M5 Stack Hardware Setup Guide (http://www.m5stack.com/assets/docs/index.html) on Get Started with ESP32 Devices (https://github.com/Microsoft/vscode-iot-workbench/blob/master/docs/esp32/esp32-get-started.md) is broken. Thanks :)

I'm trying to prototype some mqtt stuff with azure iot. I have been successful in using mosquitto to subscribe to a topic, and then send that subcription a c2d message through the iot workbench. Does anyone have any insight? If I try to publish to the same topic I'm subscribed to through mosquitto it forces my connection closed. The publish to the subscription from iot workbench has a bunch of gibberish in the topic though.
hi i got a problem when trying to make the esp32 get started with esp eye, when i trying to upload device code i exit with error device:6:29: error: Esp32MQTTClient.h: No such file or directory

I m trying to access tot the board manager but when I try to open it I get a notification :

But I already specify the arduino path in the settings, this is the Jason_file of the user settings:

    It's solved!!!!
Hi, I was wondering whether it is possible to upload the binary code from Azure IOT Hub to an ESP32 using Azure IOT using OTA?
Hi, I am sending message to Azure IoT Hub and have sometimes WiFi disconnection that lead to ESP32 crash. I wonder if there would be a way to check the connection to the azure portal before initiating a message transfer? I have inhibit the code in case of AP disconnection but not if internet access is broken and hence the access to the Azure portal. Ping seems not to be an option.

hi, I am trying to get the MXChip devkit working with Device Provisioning Service and individual enrollments, using symmetric keys. In VSCode, there is the command to Configure Device Settings and under there is an option 'Config DPS credentials'. When I enter a value there (following the format) and make sure it gets saved on the device (by pressing 'A' and then reset button) it says it accepts the configuration. Uploading the DevKitDPS.ino code from the example is successful but I get a message saying 'DPS Failed' on the device. Is it possible to use symmetric keys and the MXChip devkit device?
On Provision Azure service step, I keep getting this 'credentials' cannot be null. Why?
    i just download zip file
do i need to install it from arduino?

    dhcps: send_nak>>udp_sendto result 0

Hello all, im trying to connect to azure with this example tutorial:

I upload the code to my Heltec ESP32 wifi kit. But... When its initializing my SNTP returns "dhcps: send_nak>>udp_sendto result 0".

I dont understand why... please help

Anyone using the IoTDevKit? Trying to install the MX board on the arduino board manager - but receiving the following error. java.lang.Exception: Error downloading https://azureboard.azureedge.net/toolchain/gcc-arm-none-eabi-5_4-2016q3-20160926-win32.zip
@Oriolpuig97 I’ve used same board as well. No issues like that. Check out my super simple code, hope this will help you find the isuee: https://github.com/brodbor/az-esp32-weight
I am using the Adafruit Huzzah esp32 and seem to be getting the error: Esp32MQTTClient.h: No such file or directory
on both windows and mac. Has anyone figured out a fix for this?
