There is no way you can. I’m getting it from FCC
There is literally zero way for you to change what google sees on freecodecamp.

not remotely.

May 27 2016 01:01
think about the levels of dns propagation
where does it start?
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 01:01
even if you change my computer or such, this is google’s servers accessing freecodecamp.com
The page load isn’t local.
Robert Maylie
@rmaylie9560
May 27 2016 01:02
local>gateway>out to dns servers
you can redefine the ip on the router
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 01:04
But you can’t change google’s router.
It’s not a local spreadsheet.
Robert Maylie
@rmaylie9560
May 27 2016 01:04
to a local web server written in say flask in Python with the same class/Id/element.
You don't have to it catches the ip look up at the router (gateway) then stops propagation.
It finds what it's looking for
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 01:06
It doesn’t go through my router. End of story.

but how tempting would it be to connect to my super fast free hot spot at the library!! 😂
I ruined it by telling you, but it's possible.
I wouldn't do that to a friend, but it can be beaten!!
see ya
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 01:44
Home now! The library has nothing to do with it. You could even totally ban me from accessing freecodecamp entirely. I still pull the correct number. I'm not sure how else to explain it. The spreadsheet isn't stored locally. I am not making the call to fcc locally. Google is and you cannot access google's DNS server or router.
Regardless. If you would like to discuss further, you can message me on Facebook and I would be more than happy to continue this conversation there. I do not want public discussions of hacking as that is not what we are here for.

Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 14:13
I'll wait for the edited, I'm still rebuilding computers can only do so much to set off my frustrations in a day.
general question for you though, there are times when I just can't get a picture to align where I'd like it and neither align nor float work like in this page it apparently doesn't believe there is a center / middle only left and right. Other than messing with margins how do I place them?
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 14:22
Depends on your setup. If it's the only image on that "row" (e.g. nothing to the right or left) it's easier to wrap it in a div and set the alignment that way http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/website-design/insert-images-website/align-float-images-css
That link goes into float, I recommend not using float as it can get complicated very quickly and mess up other things.
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 14:23
ok, if I remember correctly I have it in a div I don't remember if I tried to align it via that or only the image I know I tried css to no avail.
I just changed the font color though and I think it looks pretty cool
lol of course now I'm at work I add the align code back into my class and it works immediately
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 14:25
My words are not working well yet today so hopefully this makes sense: Yeah, it's easier to tell the div what to do because it can see and control everything inside it. The image doesn't necessarily "see" what around it so it doesn't know where to put itself. Does that make sense? today is a fuzz day brain.
or a brain fuzz day >.> whatever!
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 14:26
yea that actually makes a lot more sense I never really thought of it that way before. I'm very familiar with sorting through the fog though we're like 99.9% sure my wife has fibromyalgia and brain fog is a big part of it
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 14:27
Of course here is my thought process. "My brain is fuzz today so lets re-plan our life goals! This makes sense!"
It actually does kinda make sense. I find brainstorming on fuzzy days comes up with some really weird, out of the box, wouldn't have thought of otherwise things.

Jonathan Herman

sure, if you don't see anything I'll probably use the image for my button instead just seemed like a cool idea
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 15:19
A few reasons why that isn't working. The link is actually to a wiki page (even tho the URL ends in jpg) and A large image like that won't work. The image doesn't get scaled down automatically. The image file is actually here https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/df/Diya.jpg
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 15:20
hmm ok I tried a few different ones but they were all probably too large
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 15:20
If you put that in, you should see that the image loads full height, but it does cut the width off.
You could edit the image down to just want you want in an appropriate size and still use it. Might get fuzzy that small however.
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446

May 27 2016 18:07
You could swap the img class margin to margin: 0 auto; what that will do is put zero margin top and bottom, then do equal margins on either side. The way you have it now, the % get a little wonky on smaller screens (more noticibly not centered.
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 18:08
oh that's awesome, I had no idea that existed
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 18:08
love the font!
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 18:09
thank you :) took me forever to find a fitting one , almost did it in like a sanskrit font
I just tried the auto margin but I'm not getting any margin in between the buttons
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 18:11
you don’t need br between your li’s. If you want more space, change the padding or margins in css.
for a one off page, a br is fine, but for regular coding on a page that is constantly maintained, br’s can give headaches.
sorry, i should have said swap the class you have surrounding your main image to margin: 0 auto;
i saw it had a class of it’s own.
with a margin left and margin right with different numbers.
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 18:15
oooo you're talking about the big picture of Ganesha at the top of the page, I thought you were referring to the buttons which I actually used the img class in css to set a 10% margin
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 18:15
yeah, the way it was, if you make the screen small, you can notice that it’s not centered.
i’m on the laptop now so it’s more noticiable.
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 18:16
do I still need the align: center;?
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 18:20
i didn’t even notice the align: center; that didn’t end up doing much. um… stupid fuzzy brain. And the fact you can do the same thing 20 ways. One way, move the classes from the div around the image and just stick them on the img itself. Then ganesha-image only needs margin: 0 auto;
.ganesha-image {
  margin: 0 auto;
  }
  <div class="body-text" id="blackbox">
    <h1 class="text-center">Ganesha</h1>
    <h2 class="text-center">Remover of obstacles</h2>
    <h3 class="text-center">Son of Shiva and Parvati</h3>
      <img class="ganesha-image img-responsive" src="http://www.askganesha.com/images/ask-ganesha.jpg" </img>
  </div>
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 18:21
ok but it needs to be a class in the <img> tag itself? When I do it as the <div> it didn't do anything
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 18:22
What you had before, the image looked centered because of the margins (one side was like 40 and the other 38 which probably looked right for your screen width, but as you change the screen width the percents become more “off:
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 18:22
the problem is when I switch it to the auto margin it's almost all the way to the left
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 18:23
did you change both bits of code I pasted above?
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 18:24
I got it now, the issue was that img-responsive didn't carry over
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 18:24
you lost your img-responsive tag
adding in bootstrap changes some of the rules. It makes a lot of things easier, but also changes some other default behavior.
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 18:26
with the exception of the img-responsive our code matched for that second box already
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 18:26
if you want to lean heavier on bootstrap, you can add the class center-block to img-responsive and not have to do any css at all to center it.
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 18:27
maybe I'll fork this at some point and mess around with more bootstrap
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 18:28
sitepoint had some bootstrap info. It’s good to know both. Some companies don’t want you to use bootstrap so you need to know how to do things without it as well. Unfortantly, even just adding bootstrap changes some of the rules and it’s hard to know what is what sometimes.
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 18:29
yea it seems that way
is there a text resonsive measure for bootstrap?
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 18:33
How so? I would guess you are looking for the grid system, but I’m not sure without more details. http://getbootstrap.com/css/#images
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 18:35
everything else is working mobile now except the word Ganesha goes off the screen
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 18:36
There are ways around that but you haven’t gotten that far in the lessons. You can either call it done for now and progress through the lessons, or set out of the lessons and research media queries.
If you opt for the first, you can always go back and re-edit with what you’ve learned.
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 18:47
true, not sure which I'll do my whole mood just shifted I probably shouldn't make a decision right now
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart

Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 18:57
well the heart attack I thought I was about to have wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be but I probably need to eat and meditate for a little bit. So for the moment the text is going to stay that way. I'm still largely satisfied with the page far moreso than I was with the sid vicious page and the mobile page is way better too
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
May 27 2016 18:59

Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
May 27 2016 22:58
Hey @davidjcastner Lily helped me out with the picture of Ganesh though apparently on some screens it still looks like it's out of alignment and I'm not really sure why since I didn't see it for myself. I have 3 buttons at the bottom of the page where I just made a 10% left margin and they seem to work pretty nicely that way

Thanks man Lily helped me with that too turns out I had a typo in it sometimes it really is nice to have more than one set of eyes.
