And your super smart. That kind of question may end my hobby as a coder. Not that I would give up, but I was spend the remainder of my time trying to figure out the answer

so apparently fcc is acting glitchy. While in the middle of writing test statements for a switch statement it marked it correct and pushed me on.
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Jun 01 2016 03:15
The last challenge you did looks correct. Did you happen to hit ctrl when you hit enter?
Robert Maylie
@rmaylie9560
Jun 01 2016 03:16
but look at the test methods.
theyre all 1
stacked funny as well but thats besides the point
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Jun 01 2016 03:17
FCC will run all the test methods regardless. That is there for you to test your code as you work.
Robert Maylie
@rmaylie9560
Jun 01 2016 03:18
Ooooh i thought they validate all the test methods too when you run to code to pass the lesson
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Jun 01 2016 03:20
They do. regardless of what you put on the right, all the calls on the left will be run. You can test that but putting a console.log(arguments[0]); in your function, open your console and then hit the run button. It runs all the test no matter what.

@rmaylie9560 @davidjcastner oh goodness... not the scorpion.. haha David will be pushing a scorpion project every hackathon now XD. I want to continue the drone project and once I know more node.js, I will transfer all the python code to it.
David Castner
@davidjcastner
Jun 01 2016 22:28
@anthonyzayas don't worry I won't push the scorpion at hackathons, going to work on it in my freetime

Hey gang... I'm looking forward to hearing and learning more about what the group is interested in learning and picking up some new techniques
David Castner
@davidjcastner
Jun 01 2016 22:45
@csharpfritz_twitter Welcome to MontCode! The group is primarily focused on learning web development and the MEAN stack, but we encourage all sorts of programming related conversations! I work as a full stack developer and am here to help along with getting a certification in the process. Would you like introduce yourself, perhaps your coding background and what's your goal is?
Jeff Fritz

I've been a web developer on the Microsoft stack since 1999, but have not spent much time outside of those technologies. I've dabbled with Node and Mongo, spent some time with Angular 1 and 2 but was not impressed by either.
By the twitter handle, you probably picked up that I am a die-hard C# developer, and I'm trying to diversify my knowledge into other languages as well
I'm very well versed in the complete Microsoft stack, including the cross-platform capabilities. I am still working on my Xamarin skills.
David Castner
@davidjcastner
Jun 01 2016 22:57
That's awesome! I'm not familiar with the Microsoft stack, but I would interested in your insight abouth the differences between the stacks
Jeff Fritz
@csharpfritz_twitter
Jun 01 2016 22:59
:smile: yeah.. things are REALLY changing on the Microsoft stack. Full support on Mac and Linux in addition to Windows... fastest commercial web server available.. amazing stuff
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
Jun 01 2016 23:00
Do you think Microsoft will ever reclaim the webb server market @csharpfritz_twitter?
Jeff Fritz
@csharpfritz_twitter
Jun 01 2016 23:03
Over the next 3 years... it will happen. Docker support, Linux support, and a service that delivers 3M requests per second will be hard to compete with
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
Jun 01 2016 23:05
I kind of hope you're wrong lol but that's just because I love Linux and I find it hilarious that even Microsoft runs on Linux servers. We run windows domain controllers, DNS, DHCP and AD on my network but all the web servers are LAMP because that's what our dev wanted.
Jeff Fritz
@csharpfritz_twitter
Jun 01 2016 23:07
Sure.. if LAMP makes folks happy, then more power to them. Yes, lots of Microsoft stuff now runs on Linux, with even SQL server coming in the year ahead
Microsoft is just making the tools available where developers want to work.
If your security team wanted to use AD to authenticate those web servers, your dev friend is out of luck
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
Jun 01 2016 23:09
I'll be more qualified to make a decision on it by the time I finish school I know I hated doing java on Microsoft but that was years ago and I'm more familiar with the networking side of things at the moment. I'd rather deal with a Microsoft domain controller any day, they make really great server OS's it's just the clients that are god awful
Jeff Fritz
@csharpfritz_twitter
Jun 01 2016 23:11
its a new Microsoft - and they're working on changing a lot of that perception. more customer-driven than I've seen them in years
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
Jun 01 2016 23:12
this is true but a great way to change that perception is to start building stuff that doesn't suck isn't deceptive and doesn't try to ship all your data off to marketing silos.
Jeff Fritz
@csharpfritz_twitter
Jun 01 2016 23:13
that

Jeff Fritz

Jun 01 2016 23:13
That's a little rough... but I think I understand your concern
Hey @Lilyheart - I'm looking forward to connecting more at a group meeting, but I'm going to be traveling and have meetings scheduled during the next two weeks
I'm going to try to get to the Node event.. but will be just back in town the night before.
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
Jun 01 2016 23:16
Do you get to travel for your web dev job Jeff?
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Jun 01 2016 23:16
Just point your browser to chat.montcode.com and you’ll be good to go! Great thing about those is you can be ANYWHERE! WHEEEEE (I may have had an ICEEE with dinner… SUGAR)

Jun 01 2016 23:17
lmao lily are you trying to give the illusion that you aren't always hyper?
What do you do?
Jeff Fritz
@csharpfritz_twitter
Jun 01 2016 23:19
I'm trying to phrase it properly...
I live in East Norriton...
and I help lead Microsoft's .NET development teams
... so there's that...
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Jun 01 2016 23:20
Actually I am not. I am super cranky and a by the books secretary trying to break my mold. (truth nuggets)
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
Jun 01 2016 23:20
lol you always seem so upbeat when you're here
Jeff Fritz
@csharpfritz_twitter
Jun 01 2016 23:20
I spent 13 years in web development from Y2k, and got involved with the .NET user groups -- folks noticed me and now I build web applications with .NET to help train folks with .NET
Starbucks is my current poison.. I can't get enough espresso shots
Lily Romano

Jun 01 2016 23:21
Oh two of us live in East Norriton, now three!!! We could always carpool to eagleville..
Jonathan Herman

Jun 01 2016 23:22
sounds interesting, if you're ever in Glenside maybe we can meet up at the coffee shop there, they're independently roasted.
Jeff Fritz
@csharpfritz_twitter
Jun 01 2016 23:22
... but, I'm still very interested in learning the other dev stacks and sharing what the .NET stack offers
but I plan to lurk more than drive conversations
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
Jun 01 2016 23:23
I'm still pretty crunchy, I'll learn anything I can especially if it means I can get a job making enough to support my wife and start a family
Jeff Fritz
@csharpfritz_twitter
Jun 01 2016 23:23
THAT is what this is all about...
Well said - do what you need for a good gig and keep it or have better options
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
Jun 01 2016 23:26
yea I kept this job for 8yrs I got it just after the bottom fell out of the economy it's time to move on
Jeff Fritz
@csharpfritz_twitter
Jun 01 2016 23:27
I watched the video posted here, and saw the recommendations for editors -- Atom is nice, and now I've gotta ask since I help build it, have you tried either Visual Studio Code or Visual Studio Community?
David Castner
@davidjcastner
Jun 01 2016 23:28
@csharpfritz_twitter I'm always on look out for new tools. It's great to have options, so sharing the .net stack will be appreciated
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Jun 01 2016 23:28
Not for a few years. It’s on my list to try but I’ve been to focused on other learnin's
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
Jun 01 2016 23:29
heard of it but never did anything with it, pretty much only just discovered that there's a form of coding I enjoy
David Castner
@davidjcastner
Jun 01 2016 23:29
I'm an avid fan of Atom and github in general, but never tried visual studio
Jeff Fritz
@csharpfritz_twitter
Jun 01 2016 23:30
VS Code is built on the same framework as Atom - so it works on Mac and Linux too
If the group is interested, I'd be happy to give a tour through Visual Studio Code and / or Visual Studio Community
... both tools are free (as in beer) and VS Code is open source
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Jun 01 2016 23:32
That would be awesome! I’ll connect with you about it later.
Jeff Fritz
@csharpfritz_twitter

Jeff Fritz
@csharpfritz_twitter
Jun 01 2016 23:34

Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
Jun 01 2016 23:37

Jun 01 2016 23:40
Is the group working on strictly HTML, JavaScript, and CSS or have we started looking at SCSS, LESS, and TypeScript?
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Jun 01 2016 23:41
@davidjcastner has some experience in those realms. They are on my list of things to learn (it’s a long list….). FreeCodeCamp has a saas section in Data Vis.
