@davidjcastner is the terminal the only way to open atom in ubuntu

No , you open it up by pressing the windows key, then search for atom. Another way is to pin it to your menu bar (once you have it open), then click it in the menu. Finally you could create a shortcut to it on your desktop, but that's gross

@Alexander-Huh what's the need for building a Linux kernel? Are you running into an issue? I might be able to point you in the right direction even if I can't help building a kernel

almost always another solution been using linux since the first kernel i don't remember ever recompiling manually
Unless you're looking to work directly with linus and this is your way of letting us know that you might just me a little nuts lol

My favorite part of listening to him talk (if not favorite, but the part that amuses me the most) is that he always answers the question he wants to answer which isn’t always the question asked.

Yea, ironically I've liked ben stein more so far it's he's just a ton of information my big gripe with khan was that i can't play with code easily outside of their environment because it's drawing stuff and codepen and jsbin don't recognize it as valid code

Hey, whatever works for ya bud. I haven't tried khan yet. How do they format where it's not transferring?
Like a file structure?

Like the first thing they want you to do is draw a rectangle which is rect (100, 200, 50, 100); but if you type it into a normal editor either nothing happens or it thinks rect is an undefined variable

You have to put them in a html <canvas> element me thinks

@davidjcastner the new kernal would be to get the multitouch on the mouse pad and the get the cameras to work. other than that it's running pretty well

@Alexander-Huh check for updating divers in the settings, or searching online for how to get those working. I don't think you need to work on the kernel
