@Lilyheart I'm fine, for one, although insanely busy! We have a hard deadline for a release on the 22nd. It was declared about 10 days ago, along with the list of new things to go in it. I hate management that manages by decree!

Jul 15 2016 13:15
nice!
I wonder if @SimplyPhy will use his newfound gh-pages knowledge and convert all his other repos xD I did that on anything that was portfolio worthy so that someone browsing my :octocat: can quickly see the code in action.
Eric Phy
@SimplyPhy
Jul 15 2016 13:17
hmm, a good idea
I’m not sure how much of it is portfolio worth, but still
my little frogger game is okay xDD

Jul 15 2016 14:41
Why's that?
Eric Phy
@SimplyPhy
Jul 15 2016 14:53
I think it’ll be good in the long run
amazon is a great company to be parented by, i think
also: i’m currently writing my first ajax call inside of an ajax call :candy:
David Castner
@davidjcastner
Jul 15 2016 15:15
welcome to callback hell <- at least that's what other's call it
Eric Phy
@SimplyPhy
Jul 15 2016 15:29
thanks :D
also: IT’S WORKING :D MUHAHAHA
damn foursquare api docs out of date
though foursquare api error handling is very good :D
it’s basically become ceremonious that whenever i get something to work after >= 30 minutes of strain, i stand up and let out some sort of victory chant
i'm probably being a tad optimistic in calling it a victory chant :D

any ideas why an ajax call inside an ajax call might return an oauth error whenever i try to run it more than once?
always works the first time
and works with the input from the 2nd,3rd, etc, just only when that input is called first
muhahaha
i found a hint...

@Lilyheart @davidjcastner if i pull my github repo into my local repo, do i risk losing changes i’ve made to my local repo
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Jul 15 2016 20:49
@davidjcastner Missile references to that video are made all the time in my house! I've never met anyone else who knew about it.
Why do you want to pull? Does your remote have changes that your local does not?
@SimplyPhy
Eric Phy
@SimplyPhy
Jul 15 2016 21:00
yup @Lilyheart
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Jul 15 2016 21:05
So your master branch has branched away from the remote's master branch. A pull will start a merge.
Eric Phy
@SimplyPhy
Jul 15 2016 21:11
i think it’s jsut because i screwed up with my first github pull request, but things are insync now. I think it’s saying they aren’t in sync because I created and deleted a blank file in github
my local repo is a day (and a lot of work) newer than my remote, though
figured i’d ask :D
no biggie though, i read up on it, seems okay
plus i can undo if it fails; i’ll just make a copy of the local files in a different local repo to be safe :D
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Jul 15 2016 21:15
Yup, think of commits as snapshots in time with the date and timestamp part of the commit (they actually are, it's in the hash). If you add a file and commit that moves the tip, then if you delete and recommit that moves the tip again. Now if you add the file and commit, and then move the tip back a commit, then your "tip (of the iceberg)" is back to before you added the file. Doing that isn't good practice however as you want to keep the history of everything you did (that being said, I have reset the tip back before, it's just bad practice).
If you commited your local files before the merge, then you can just go back to that commit.
that's the beauty of git
