Thanks @Lilyheart . I never used this chat system before, takes a little getting used to lol. Is there a standalone client you'd recommend or just use the web interface?
mac osx has a great gitter app. Windows not so much. I just use the web there. Android’s app is middling. Like to crash sometimes but is functional for the most part. I don’t know about iOS. Only “issue” with the mobile is if you have the web app open somewhere (like say you leave a browser window open while you are out and about) you won’t get notifications of messages.
@ScriptMonkey00 I’m not sure which webpage you are on. https://gitter.im/MontCode/GeneralChat is the direct page. But, http://chat.montcode.com gives some more information on how to use gitter in an info box. Includes a markdown cheatsheet and a link to a list of all the emoji
Mostly web development type languages, (lots of JavaScript), but we hit other topics as well. Git/GitHub commands and linux commands as they are nearly a language in their own right.
Might hear a bit of Java right now. Quite a few of us are in the same course at Montgomery County Community College and it is Java based.
The library meet-ups occasionally go over hardware type programming. Small boards, Arduino and the like.
Many members are going through the www.freecodecamp.com curriculum and supplementing with other websites as necessary.
gotcha :) I'm trying to self-teach myself java/android dev.. made my first simple app to solve a task I needed resolved, but I wouldn't say I'm anything of an expert.
self-teach myself... wow that's a really lousy phrase :)
it Specifies the relationship between the current document and the linked document which means that rel tells the browser what kind of page you are linking to.
gotcha... that's actually one of the lines I use in interviews (conducting them)... Good developers don't know all the commands.. they know where to FIND the commands :)
@JBC944 Don't feel bad.. I've been in the field for... a while :) and I can tell you that the only reason I answered that question.. and likely Lily too, is that somewhere a while back, we ASKED it :)
@Lilyheart Is there a breadboard-style molex power controling... thing? :)
Exactly what @ScriptMonkey00 said @JBC944 . Whenever a .css files doesn’t work, the first thing I look at is the link tag. Usually I type the file name wrong or reference the folder incorrectly
code is perfect, thanks! :) but I still don't know how to get molex controlled by the arduino.. I'm hoping that I don't need to break out the pins... that would suck lol
heh. I haven’t gotten a raspberry pi zero yet. I’ve used the larger raspberries (one controls my house.. his name is HAL9000, others are squeezeboxes). Arduinos… I’ve used huzzah and uno. I’m sitting on 30 mini pro’s for sensor nodes in my house, but I don’t have the time to do anything with them yet.
try a new SD card too. Those things can die out sooooo fast.
it's brand new and worked fine in my pc... booted, and when the mouse DID work, I got it to install raspbian fine from NOOBS so it seems good... then the mouse stopped working and I was kinda done... lol FYI my home PC is also named "HAL" :)
SD cards are so easy to kill in a raspberry. I have a backup stack xD I have a pi3 that HAL will transfer too once I get it so that the main “drive” is an SSD… I just have to figure out all that… in my spare time…
I'm one of those religous line crossers.. I used to do hardware/networking.... then jumped to software dev.. which is funny because now when I tell someone "it's a hardware problem" they actually listen, because I can usually tell them what the problem was :)
we could start one heck of a business here though, you and I could build the servers lily can do the html/css let eric handle JS and Dave can jump in wherever needed
but dinner just arrived.. tuesday evening is actually REALLY hectic for me, but I wanted to make friends before it started.. and I'll catch everyone tomorrow! :) have a great MEET tonight guys :)
you remember the things at the beginning and the end of sessions the most. So if you go long stretches with a break, you end up working twice as hard trying to remember it all. Gotta take breaks.
