I'm going to make some dinner so I might be a a little bit late for a 5 p.m. start time. Tonight I shall be working in C. .. "fun"

Yuck C :( But some good dinner should counteract C's energy-sucking code base

I'm at 8 hours of C coding in the last 24 hours. xD /cry

Can I ask what you're coding on? What is it about?
I'm I interrupting and asking the wrong question?

various things going on here with homework as it's nearing the end of the semester. Not sure what Adam is up to if anything.

Me, no coding right now - will be later on tonight

What homework? Are you taking courses at school? Am I asking an odd question? Am I intruding?

I'm at Bucknell University at the moment.
I'm in two classes. One involves Java, the other C.

I see. I'm planning on taking courses at Montgomery community college to brush up on C# and Java because it's been to long since I coded. Also, I'm interested in attending Temple grad school for Statistical Science degree. I'm currently looking for a Data Analyst position as well.

I graduated in the spring from MCCC with a CS associates. There are a few MCCC alums in the chat.
I've done Java course work there, but not C#. They are on the engineering side it seems like.

When I get stuck with my homework later, can I ask you for help? Please.
At least Java.

Feel free to ask the chat room. There are a few of us around. And, people like Adam who are not from MCCC but quite knowledgeable.
That's the purpose of the chat. See the description of the meetup.

Sure. Good idea. That's what this meetup is all about, right?

@G7470 how are your c memcpy skills today xD
ha, yeah, sorry. Not used to the real name vs screen name bits.

So how does this work? You send over your code to someone for assistance? Is that it?

depends on what's going on, how much code it is, what sites you are comfortable with etc.

Nov 27 2018 23:08
OK. But you just ask someone if they can take a look at your code?

@SerenaKim_gitlab I suggest learning markdown for making chatting easier https://github.com/adam-p/markdown-here/wiki/Markdown-Cheatsheet
Here is a reference on typing code directly into the chat https://www.freecodecamp.org/forum/t/free-code-camp-official-chat-rooms/19390
formatting there is essential.

I know Adam outside of chat so I'm kinda familiar with what he already knows so I can cheat there. Generally just asking in the chat room might net you an answer from a random person.
if it's short, you can type code in a single line like I did with the memcpy
if it's a lot of code, that is why that second link is important, I'll post my code in a sec with my question to Adam so you can see what that looks like.
Even bigger code blocks, using github gist work okay. But really, if the question can't be explained in... oh I hesitate to tie a number to it... but lets say 10-15 lines of code, then you may want to work on what the question is because the question is too big for someone to answer quickly. And if more code than that is needed, it's probably better to ask the instructor. What are you thoughts on that @G7470 ?

I have this code
        //somewhere I have this
        char *thisCommandArgs[ishellargs_num];
        //then some looping do/while code to fill in each of the pointers like the follow
        thisCommandArgs[nextCmdIndex] = strdup(token);
        //it all prints fine with this code
        for (int i = 0; i < ishellargs_num; i++) {
                printf("*%s*\n", thisCommandArgs[i]);
        }
        //then if I memcopy
        memcpy(&lastCommandArgs, &thisCommandArgs, sizeof(thisCommandArgs));
        //then print using a similar for loop to above on lastCommandArgs I get a segfault
