@Lilyheart
I did using a code along found in Colt Steele's bootcamp on Udemy.

@davidjcastner
@Lilyheart Love the new David setting! muhahaha

@karpimpski
@Lilyheart I like it! how did you generate the other colors? did you make them completely random or did you base them off of the correct color?
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
You would! An Adam number of square and a David level of range is just an evil game.
@karpimpski There is a range selecter you can choose. Full is a totally random generated colors. The "David" level randomly generates nearby colors. That was fun to figure out. If you really wanna dig into the code, here is the js https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1413496/Misc/projects/color-game/colorgame.js
search for "function closeRandomColor"
Michael Karpinski
@karpimpski
@Lilyheart thanks!
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
meh, I can just put it in here! I'm too tired lately.
function closeRandomColor(str) {
var rgb = str.match(/\d+/g);
for (var i = 0; i < rgb.length; i++) {
rgb[i] = Number(rgb[i]);
var variance = Math.floor(Math.random() * 60) * (Math.random() < 0.5 ? -1 : 1);
console.log(rgb[i] + "+" + variance);

if(rgb[i] + variance > 255 || rgb[i] + variance < 0) {
rgb[i] = rgb[i] - variance;
} else {
rgb[i] = rgb[i] + variance;
}
}
return "rgb(" + rgb[0] + ", " + rgb[1] + ", " + rgb[2] + ")";
}

@karpimpski
hey guys, can you let me know what you think of my button hover and click effects? I think they're pretty good!
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
I send the closeRandomColor function the string of the last color determined and it finds numbers close to it.
Nice toggle! The font color is a bit hard to see on :hover tho
Michael Karpinski
@karpimpski
@Lilyheart yeah, I noticed that. other than that, do you like the use of gradients or do you think it's too distracting? I think it looks nice
David Castner
@davidjcastner
@karpimpski Nice job! Yea I would change the font color though. A minimal gradient is always a great way to spice up the looks, so I might go with a slightly less noticeable gradient
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
I think it's nice, but if you think it "might" be too distracting, then someone out there will definitely think that! Which leaves you a choice. You can leave it alone because you truly want to stick to your vision, or (what I would do) is use the gradient, but maybe make it a little less obvious. Closer colors.
Or what David said because he used better words :p I can't word today.
Michael Karpinski
@karpimpski
@davidjcastner yeah, this is just a little test thing to try to figure out. I'm not using different colors @Lilyheart, just a different darkness, but I get what you guys are saying and I agree. thanks!

@karpimpski
can you guys refresh and see if you like it better this way?
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Sometimes you gotta stick to your design vision and sometimes you gotta compromise :smirk:
Use a lighter font color (white or almost white) is my only advice.
Michael Karpinski
@karpimpski
@Lilyheart sounds good. again, this is just a test for the button but I'll mess around with the colors now and see if I can make it look nicer. thanks!

Almost ready to push the code to show/hide the video (assuming you are viewing the chat from chat.montcode.com.
Done and pushed to production.
@lantech19446 here is the main bit of code for it. I didn't end up using the toggle as I wanted to change the icon as well. Had to separate the code anyway.
    $("#videoToggleIcon").on("click", ".fa-toggle-on", function(event){$("#streamFrame").slideUp(600, function(){
$("#videoToggleIcon").html("<i class='fa fa-toggle-off' aria-hidden='true'></i>"); }); });$("#videoToggleIcon").on("click", ".fa-toggle-off", function(event){
$("#streamFrame").slideDown(600, function(){$("#videoToggleIcon").html("<i class='fa fa-toggle-on' aria-hidden='true'></i>");
});
});

Here is the last little project I finished. It's a simplified clone of patatap.com https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1413496/Misc/projects/patatap-clone/index.html
David Castner
@davidjcastner
did it have the music before, i don't think I had my volume on before
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
It did.

@davidjcastner
It quite addictive to smash my keyboard on that site lol

@Lilyheart
Howler.js!
I think my roommate was going to throttle me while I was trying to finish up the code :sweat:
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
what is patatap.com?
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
a noisy website xD
each letter key is a different sound and shape.
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
lol that's great
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
my clone is only sound and color of shape (which is circle)
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
might check it out once I finish listening to the repo soundtrack lol
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
I need to watch that again soon...
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
yea there's something oddly addictive about Niles and Paris Hilton in a movie together
