    That's pretty cool
    Alex H.
    @Alexander-Huh
    we tried to make an indoor drone air traffic control system, but instead of wifi or bluetooth pinging we tried to use visual signs / landmarks
    to help the drone navigate and gather location onfo
    info*
    Jonathan Herman
    @lantech19446
    so conceivably with your development someone could put a landing zone constructed of the visual coding like your sign and when they pop on the landing sequence it would look for the LZ and automatically touch down
    Alex H.
    @Alexander-Huh
    ya, thats pretty much exactly what we wanted to accomplish
    we got the drone to fly by itself, and we got the visual recognition to work, but we were unable to get the two to work together
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    :vertical_traffic_light: awesome
    Jonathan Herman
    @lantech19446
    it looks like you made some decent accomplishments in getting there though and that's pretty awesome. I imagine there's a lot about aviation to understand to actually make it successfully touch down from any height
    Alex H.
    @Alexander-Huh
    luckily the drone @davidjcastner brought came with a built in sonar sensor on the bottom to help with landings
    Jonathan Herman
    @lantech19446
    that's awesome

    @Alexander-Huh
    thank you!

    Online Chat & Code is officially over but that doesn't mean the fun needs to stop! Feel free to stick around. Hopefully I will see some of you tomorrow at the library! http://www.meetup.com/MontCode/

    @Lilyheart I'm a few steps behind most of the people here. Yesterday, I finished bootstrap, and I did a couple exercises on jquery. There are some things that I don't feel on top of, so I make detours. I did a few things on the www.w3schools.com, then I went to check out Khan Academy.
    Khan Academy started with an introduction from John Resig, the developer who invented jquery. The recommendation was to know HTML, CSS, and javascript before starting.
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    I understand why FCC chose to go over jQuery before js. It is easier and much less daunting. But, I do agree. A full understanding a javascript should come before fully understanding jQuery. FCC’s jQuery section is more like a quick intro though.
    You actually aren’t behind! By my count you are actually right in the middle. Four ppl behind you and four ahead!

    @dewhiz
    I'm doing Khan Academy's CSS lessons; they do some things that FCC didn't do, or just got the code in without really understanding. Khan Academy does a better job at explaining the relationship between different tags, elements, etc.

    @Lilyheart
    I’ve heard good things about Khan’s programming classes. Have you watched either the video from last week’s chat or visited http://welcome.montcode.com . I have quite a few resources listed in there as well.
    I also just posted this to the Facebook group. https://medium.com/javascript-scene/learn-javascript-b631a4af11f2#.1ektdmlpp It’s an older post but still with good information. It’s by Eric Eliiot who is an author of many js books.
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    I’ll add to the welcome deck that khan is good for css as well! Right now I only mention javascript

    Being in the middle feels better. I may also do a detour & take a skillshare class that does projects in html & css. It costs 99 cents to get 3 months of premium; if I don't like a class, not much is lost.
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    I’m doing the same. Besides FCC, I am also doing a udemy programming course.
    Did you see the color game and noisy page I made for that course yet?
    It’s like the class you mentioned and does a lot of projects. It’s been fun.
    I look forward to seeing the projects you complete if you find the course worth continuing.
