check these guys out, Roger and Michael, their work is the epitome of what I would like to do...fractals in motion to music. Especially covering the wall of a home!
Jim Oliver does something called Harmonies of Light, especially cool.

@Lilyheart
I thought that was Thursday :O
Eric Phy
@SimplyPhy
hmm..
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Thursday at 6:00 PM
Eric Phy
@SimplyPhy
oh yeah, ha. So…are you going to the coding night thursday?
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Unless I get any sicker, I plan on it.
Eric Phy
@SimplyPhy
I hope you feel better :worried:
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Matt Hassell will be there too. I think you met up at a meetup. Was/Is learning python and some other stuff. Not web devy.
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
python is kinda cool, pretty powerful if you're good at it
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
@davidjcastner is the ruler of python if you have questions and such
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
nice
I tried to do some of it before and enjoyed it until none of it would carry over to my phone because you couldn't use python3 on android and python2.1 I believe it was had never been ported

@Lilyheart
xD Interesting note... I save my school work in dropbox. The android dropbox editor will let me edit .java files with zero issues. Great for adding those comments when out and about for things like "OMG I KNOW HOW TO FIX THAT PROBLEM" :laughing:
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
lol
Lily you might be the only person to figure that out
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
LULZ
oh... and the commented idea didn't work xD had to ask the teacher today.
Jonathan Herman
@lantech19446
lol
Eric Phy
@SimplyPhy
okay I’m back. so yeah I’m still coming to grips with Udacity’s decision...
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
What the hell is the story with that? Didn't you pay for it?
Eric Phy
@SimplyPhy
The courses are still available for free at least, and they’re going to refund me the last two months tuition, so it’s really not that bad I guess. I already deviated from their curriculum by delving into React, so my progression from this point forward should be pretty smooth regardless
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Interesting. Well that's something at least.
Eric Phy
@SimplyPhy
Actually, I got the first month for free thanks to my github student package, and they’re going to pay me back the last two months…so it should be free :D
The Harmonies of Light is neat @KR62 , it reminds me of the musical performances described in The Seventh Tower book series by Garth Nix
a bit less dramatic in real life, but still a great sound
I love the pendulum wave effect, is there a way to code that?
Eric Phy
@SimplyPhy
@KR62 I recommend using this course at Khan Academy to introduce yourself to the power of programming to explore creative disciplines
KR62
@KR62
ok, thanks very much Eric for the suggestion.
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
"code that" is a very generic term. Code a website? Code a windows program? "Coding" is a huge disciple with many nooks and crannies.
KR62
@KR62
thanks for checking out Jim Oliver's stuff, I love it.
Eric Phy
@SimplyPhy
yeah that’s easy, especially if it’s just along a single axis. You’ll have to familarize yourself with fundamental programming principles prior to being able to meaningfully reproduce that sort of visualization
KR62
@KR62
Yea, that's the problem with me. Since I don't have the proper background or training I'm kind of lost, just have lots of things I love.
Eric Phy
@SimplyPhy
start with khan academy, and go through their intro to js course, which is the pre-requisite to the one I shared above
then we can talk more about bringing something to life
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
What eric said.
KR62
@KR62
Awesome, that's what I needed, a plan of action! Thank you.
Lily Romano
@Lilyheart
Also since fractals is your bag, I say also look at doing as much khan academy math as you can as that will help incredibly in fractals.
