You would think so... but nearly every class I've had that involves researching has had some sort of primer. I think it's a rumor started by high school students to get them to pay attention.
But it's a public speaking class, which leads to public speaking in small groups, which leads to using a small group for problem solving, which leads to a group project using a specific method for small group problem solving.

xD Should. Toastmasters is all about Public Speaking. Been there, done that.
The first English class in the English track is literally entirely about writing a paper, doing researching and using APA, MLA etc guidelines.
