    @brindlebrew Type conversion is built into JS by default. Say you had the line ("5" == 5) - even though this value is not logically equivalent, JS will do everything in its power to make the statement "truthy" by type converting, so instead of getting "false", you'll now get "true". Many programmers consider this to be dangerous behavior and that's why they use (===), which not only checks to see if the values in the comparison are equal, but also checks to see if their types are equal.

    Ahhh that makes a lot more sense. I didn't realize it was built in. Thanks!

    I might actually be there, depends when I get robbed. Worked until at 7am yesterday 📐

    Looks like everyone lost power some time this afternoon. Here in Detroit it wasn't particularly tropical this morning, but I got back to my hotel at about 8 and it was snowing ! <brrrr>!
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    BRR. Yeah, when I checked in with PECO, the outage covered quite a few homes.
    Mike
    @dcpking
    Are you ok there?
    (like, you're not going to end up a Roman Popsicle)
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    power came back. tis why i said yay earlier
    Wanna know the worst part? I had forgot to save... I had written 90% of a bubble sort using the IAS machine instruction set.... and the power poofed. I was able to recover with minimal loss however. yay for automatic backups
    Mike
    @dcpking
    Oh good! There've been warnings about snow and storm moving east from here to Philly in the afternoon tomorrow. We shall see, I suppose.
    Auto-backups are the best invention since sliced bread - I definitely agree! I always set them to the minimal interval available.
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    But I was saved by the save.
    Mike
    @dcpking
    And you finished your sort routine, I assume. Well done!
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    I did. Very glad that's over.

    @dcpking
    I really hate assembly and machine code! To the extent that I was tasked with writing memory management modules for a cell tower OS in Germany, and used Fortran throughout! The reason? Fortran is easy to write in and the optimising compiler will let you emit assembly instead of machine code, so I just presented that to the boss. He seemed happy, as it all worked.
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    lol
    it's the class we are taking right now.
    Mike
    @dcpking
    (Standard Electrik Lorenz, in case you're wondering :) )
    My sympathies are totally with you. Will you be up on the 15th to Abyss, BTW ?
    I'm buying cookies!
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    dunno yet. lots going on right now.
    Mike
    @dcpking
