    i guess im on to projects and introduction to codepne
    codepen
    G7470
    @G7470
    Ahhh, yeah, codepen is popular with fcc
    There are many others out there that do a similar thing, but I can see why they like it
    Lisa Tidball
    @li3097
    oh ok
    ive used komodo editor, web expressions, and good ole notebook
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    If you are more comfortable not writing in CodePen, you can do the projects elsewhere and use github pages to host. The only fCC requirement is that the code can be viewed and the final version can be viewed. CodePen can be easier though as you don’t have to worry about a lot of things and can just focus on the HTML and CSS/JS
    Lisa Tidball
    @li3097
    codepen actually looks easier to combine the pages. I struggle linking the html and css pages together
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    If you want to focus on learning the HTML/CSS/JS then I recommend codepen. However, if you want practice to get over the hurdle of struggling with the linking, you can do it outside of codepen and we can help. But, you can always do the first few fCC stuff in codepen and move over later.
    Lisa Tidball
    @li3097
    ok, i might do just that
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    One of the great things about self directed learning is that you can analyze where your weakness in knowledge lies and where you want to focus (and not always on the weakness either). One of my favorite parts.

    Ive got this done but im at a loss what to do next https://codepen.io/pen

    Might need to save or something. Not the right link.

    @Lilyheart
    the webaddress will have your screenname and some random gibberish
    Hubby needs the computer but ill see your answer later and then get to doing it.

    @Lilyheart
    The project 100% meets the criteria of the challenge. It’s up to you from here. Do you want to keep tweaking the code? Does it fullfill the vision you had for the page when you started? Are you happy with how it looks?
    Lisa Tidball
    @li3097
    @Lilyheart oh! Originally i just wanted to complete the project. It doesnt really follow the design I wanted but maybe ill just let it go for now and save it and come back to it.
    Lisa Tidball
    @li3097
    Does anyone have something for this? https://codepen.io/li3097/pen/wqmVRX
    G7470
    @G7470
    I'm not sure what you're asking
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    Learning how to make a website fit your vision is definately a skill to hone. But, learning more so that you have the tools to do so is just as worthy.
    Lisa Tidball
    @li3097
    ok
    @G7470 I was asking for any suggestions to improve it.
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    @li3097 I suggest you to through the requirements for the assignment as there are still several user stories you need to hit.
    you can check the boxes on the assignment as you are working to see what topics you have remaining.
    Lisa Tidball
    @li3097
    @Lilyheart OH!
    I will do that
    var a = 5;
    var b = 12;
    var c = 4.6;

    // Only modify code below this line

    a *= a * 1;
    b *= 0.25 * b;
    c *= c * 2.17391304348;
    i am stuck on the last line to make it say c should equal 46
    G7470
    @G7470
    What programming language is this for?
    Lisa Tidball
    @li3097
    javascript
    G7470
    @G7470
    Ok - just a point of reference, when using =, you should not be referencing the variable again. i.e. `a = 1;is the same asa = a * 1;`
    Sorry, dang code conversion on here didn't work properly, hang on
    a *= 1;
    // is the same as
    a = a * 1;

    for the last line, wouldn't:

    c *= 10;

    work?

    Lisa Tidball
    @li3097
    let me check
    @G7470 ty as yes it does.

    I haven't had a chance to go thru the chat history here yet, but just a quick post. The meetup this Thursday will change. The library just emailed me that they will be closing early Thursday. I've already informed those who RSVP'd and @lantech19446 is seeing if he can get us space at the Lansdale library last minute.

    @Lilyheart
    I may also miss most of chat tonight as I'm going to find some place with air conditioning.
