    Hey Lily, you taking the Wednesday night 125 with Bhattacharya? I️ just registered it. Hearing all the talk about proofs and whatnot I️ figured it might be better to take on campus as opposed to online
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    Yup! That's the class! Awesome. @Ryzilynt

    Besides work nonsense, not much going on tonight. Wanted to make some progress on at least one of my projects, but parents have requested I help them clean their house. So, that's where I'll be instead, lol

    Hey all - got stuck in holiday Mall traffic on the way home - disadvantage of living 5 min away.
    Nina G.
    @potnoodlez_twitter
    I am having trouble getting my stack to print to test my program. My toString is in another class. It prints out the text I wrote but it is blank after instead of printing items on the stack.

    @ccziriak
    What language, @potnoodlez_twitter ?
    Nina G.
    @potnoodlez_twitter
    Java
    ccz
    @ccziriak
    Ah - sorry - I'm of no help there.
    Nina G.
    @potnoodlez_twitter
    I just ran the debugger and it is coming back null even though it shouldn't be null
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    Can you paste the line where you call the toString in it?
    Nina G.
    @potnoodlez_twitter
    System.out.println(list.highBidder);
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    What class was used to create list?
    Nina G.
    @potnoodlez_twitter
    Auction
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    What class is the toString in?
    Nina G.
    @potnoodlez_twitter
    LinkedStack
    highBidder is a LinkedStack object

    @NotTheDBA
    How is everyone this evening?
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    Hey Randy.
    Nina G.
    @potnoodlez_twitter
    Good, thank you. How are you?
    Randy Reitz
    @NotTheDBA
    I'm doing well, thanks. Getting ready for an interview tomorrow and vacation starting Friday!
    Nina G.
    @potnoodlez_twitter
    good luck!
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    Is highBidder a variable in the list instance of Auction?
    You
    Randy Reitz
    @NotTheDBA
    @potnoodlez_twitter thanks!
    Nina G.
    @potnoodlez_twitter
    I dont think so. My Java is bad lol. highBidder is the stack. It prints out the text in my toString so it is weird

    @Override
    public String toString()

    //toString method - returns the items on the stack
    {
    String s = "The stack is \n";

    LLNode<T> currNode = top;

    while(currNode != null)
    {

      s = s + currNode.getInfo() + "\n";
      currNode = currNode.getLink();

    }

    return s;

    }

    It prints out "The stack is "
    then according to the debugger it is saying currNode IS null
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    Look up how the dot operator works to understand what you print ln is doing.
    Jonathan Herman
    @lantech19446
    hey lily
    Nina G.
    @potnoodlez_twitter
    okay!
    Nina G.
    @potnoodlez_twitter
    It does the same thing even when I just use System.out.println(list);
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    Hey @lantech19446 ! Okay, I'm home now.
    System.out.println(list); prints the toString in the class list was created from.
    Jonathan Herman
    @lantech19446
    hey Lily thought you were mad at me or something lol
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    xD was out to dinner. BFF was over.
    Jonathan Herman
    @lantech19446
    ooo ok
    Lily Romano
    @Lilyheart
    there may be other uses, but I do know System.out.println(list.highBidder); prints the variable highBidder found in the class list was created from.
