    Ah, mudstandards.org
    Failed attempt at making standards happen in the MUD community
    Ahmed Charles
    @ahmedcharles
    @Chris7 python, eh?
    sounds like fun
    Stephen Lyons
    @SlySven
    But who wants to take a snake with them - look at the fun Samuel L. Jackson had with them on an aeroplane :snake:

    @SlySven
    Technically speaking a tab is supposed to line up the following character at a preset distance ahead so the amount of "spaces" to add depends on the current "position" so one would have to know how much space the preceding and the current character on the line takes - which will get harder to calculate once we start using glyphs that are not a unit width - remember just because it is a mono-space font it does NOT mean every character is the same width! :wink2:
    Vadim Peretokin
    @vadi2
    every character same width makes the display be real fast though
    Chris Mitchell
    @Chris7
    @ahmedcharles It's very productive. If you need speed, you can actually inline C++ code in python
    Vadim Peretokin
    @vadi2
    I probably shouldnt've came to a Microsoft breakfast event with my Ubuntu backpack
    Ahmed Charles
    @ahmedcharles
    hehe
    what could go wrong?
    Vadim Peretokin
    @vadi2
    Vadim Peretokin
    @vadi2
    Strange. Installed Microsoft tools SDK and it didn't update my %path% to where the binaries are.
    Ahmed Charles
    @ahmedcharles
    on windows, lots of things don't update your path
    most microsoft software doesn't
    Vadim Peretokin
    @vadi2
    Kind of strange
    Anyway I found a Linux tool I can use to sign that doesn't require me to boot into Windows and spend time converting the certificate file either
    Unfortunately the cerficate I got is an SSL one, not a code signing one, haha

    @vadi2
    We just moved into above the Brisbane Microsoft office
    I think they occupy like 2 floors here (or more). I'm asking random people in the elevator to scope it out
    Oh, just one level, says the site contact info
    Ahmed Charles
    @ahmedcharles
    Haha

    @SlySven
    @Vadi2 Were you caught out by the Smartphones networks adopting DST in Queensland (despite it not being used there since 1972... :laughing: ) - did you get to avail yourself of the compensatory :coffee: ?
    Vadim Peretokin
    @vadi2
    I did actually, for some reason my phone which was set to "automatic network timezone" was set to Sydneys timezone so I gained an hour in the morning...
    I thought I'd be fine since I did that. Kind of stupid
    A whole lot of people went to work an hour early here too
    Stephen Lyons
    @SlySven
    Well it only affected Queensland according to my source the BBC (may not play where you are as I suspect the Beeb geo-lock some of their content).
    Damn and blast and piles of :hankey:, those ultra cheap ink cartridges I bought to test a "new" (to me anyway) HP Printer had single use seals on the bottom and since I did some cartridge juggling to get it to work two of the three (the ones that got removed and reseated) have dumped their entire contents - apart from the amount that the printer drew up into its internal reservoirs at the print head - all over the inside of the printer and onto the stack of paper held within... :hurtrealbad:
    Vadim Peretokin
    @vadi2
    Yeah it is only QLD
    Turns out that one phone provider stuffed up, they were offering to pay for people's coffee's haha
    Oh dear
    Stephen Lyons
    @SlySven
    Are you OK Vadim? I can see that things are a bit inclement a bit south of you in NSW... :worried:
    Stephen Lyons
    @SlySven

    Should you wish to prevent systemd being installed when updating from Debian Wheezy to Jessie create a file like /etc/apt/preferences.d/local-pin-init containing:

        Package: systemd-sysv
        Pin: release o=Debian
        Pin-Priority: -1

    and ensure you uninstall the Gnome desktop and choose another as that has a "requires" dependency on systemd. Do this before changing the wheezy entries in your /etc/apt/sources.list or the more modern /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*.list components form to the jessie ones.

    Vadim Peretokin
    @vadi2
    I've updated to Ubuntu that uses it and it runs ok. Don't care much for what is underneath as long as it works
    Stephen Lyons
    @SlySven
    Well that's the thing, if it doesn't run ok then your system is in big trouble - and un-installing it is a precarious process apparently. I heard that Ubuntu had switched away from their own creation upstart IIRC. Ah well, Your Milage May Vary as they say!
    Stephen Lyons
    @SlySven
    Ah its time for that Annual Songfest The Eurovision Song Contest and the most recent addition to the group of European Countries that are taking part is... Australia :confounded:!
    Vadim Peretokin
    @vadi2
    Yes haha
    Lot of fans here
    Stephen Lyons
    @SlySven
    Hello - I'm back but very busy with getting my new house ready to move into; but in the meantime: is AhemdCharles still with us - I note when I do a git fetch --all that his repository for Mudlet seems to have vaporised?
    Vadim Peretokin
    @vadi2
    He hasn't been on in a while
    That would be a real pity if he removed his stuff, he had a lot...
    That we were hoping to merge in the 3.1 release
    Stephen Lyons
    @SlySven
    Oh dear, SourceForge is down... :unamused:
    Vadim Peretokin
    @vadi2
    Yeah for a good two days now
    Stephen Lyons
    @SlySven
    Read more at the SF Blog
    Vadim Peretokin
    @vadi2
    That restored some confidence in them
    Stephen Lyons
    @SlySven
    I am physically moving (house) in the next few days - I suspect I will be going dark until I can get desk/system/broadband back up... :pray:
    Vadim Peretokin
    @vadi2
    Hope the move goes well!
    Stephen Lyons
    @SlySven
    Well I'm sort of back - the move got a bit hurried to meet a tenancy end deadline - and it got a bit "grab everything and stuff it in a container" towards the end. I've now to continue unpacking and finding things, right now I'm still looking for an 8-way 100Mbp network hub to get some PCs properly hooked up and there is plenty of non-PC stuff to be sorted as well. Sigh
