Uch why keep people asking for protocolsupport compatibility, why would you still want 1.7, it's 2 years old
maybe something for Stupidly Frequently Asked Questions? :P

@fillefilip8
Apr 12 2016 07:42

Mats
@Matsv
Apr 12 2016 07:50
There is no difference between 1.7 and 1.8 pvp right?
ridalarry
@ridalarry
Apr 12 2016 10:46
I think there is
Mats
@Matsv
Apr 12 2016 10:46
Oh
ridalarry
@ridalarry
Apr 12 2016 10:48
also some players has bad pc's so they prefer to use 1.7 or even 1.5.2 for some of them
Mats
@Matsv
Apr 12 2016 10:48
True, but is ProtocolSupport for 1.9 not out yet?
Since so many people are asking
ridalarry
@ridalarry
Apr 12 2016 10:49
I think it is but on dev builds
Mats
@Matsv
Apr 12 2016 10:49
Ah
Myles
@MylesIsCool
Apr 12 2016 10:49
  • people are lazy and don't wanna be forced to use 1.9
so they wanna use protocol support for 1.8 + via
Mats
@Matsv
Apr 12 2016 10:50
They can hire someone to make it though :P
ridalarry
@ridalarry
Apr 12 2016 10:50
I would update to 1.9 but I am waiting for some plugins to get updated and afaik my players hate 1.9 due to combat changes
Mats
@Matsv
Apr 12 2016 10:50
The new api probably allows it

The combat changes are not that bad
I hope some big servers will soon just force people to use it, before 1.10 is out
ridalarry
@ridalarry
Apr 12 2016 10:51
but there is 1 thing I like about the combat update is the hit timer (blocks killaura)
Mats
@Matsv
Apr 12 2016 10:51
Well you can do more damage if you time it perfectly
so their will be new killaura's :P
ridalarry
@ridalarry
Apr 12 2016 10:51
1.10 is probably gonna be released next year
Mats
@Matsv
Apr 12 2016 10:52
Well, the 1.10 snapshot is already in 3 weeks here probably
(according to the mojang website)
ridalarry
@ridalarry
Apr 12 2016 10:52
but dont they take around a year to relase an update?
I saw it
but thats only snapshots
Mats
@Matsv
Apr 12 2016 10:52
Yeah, but maybe they want to do it quiter this time
Myles
@MylesIsCool
Apr 12 2016 10:52
I estimate it'll be half a year
Mats
@Matsv
Apr 12 2016 10:53
Hm I think they'll release it at minecon
in september
ridalarry
@ridalarry
Apr 12 2016 10:53

Myles
@MylesIsCool
Apr 12 2016 10:53

Apr 12 2016 10:53
all nms plugins break
and some developers would be inactive and wont update it
like chestchops and echopet
Myles
@MylesIsCool
Apr 12 2016 10:54
There's actually a plugin by md_5
which updates nms plugins
well not plugin, tool
works some of the time
ridalarry
@ridalarry
Apr 12 2016 10:54
does it work 100%?
oh
Myles
@MylesIsCool
Apr 12 2016 10:54
well considering nms is mojangs code, of course things change and it isn't 100%
you never can be
ridalarry
@ridalarry
Apr 12 2016 10:55
what is that tool name?
Myles
@MylesIsCool
Apr 12 2016 10:55
now that's an interesting question
rubs beard
Mats

Apr 12 2016 10:58
I actually can't find it, I found it while I was pondering round his stuff. Maybe it got deleted, but essentially it just remapped the classes
which technically writing something to do isn't that hard if you know how java bytecode works
Maybe i'll write one when i'm bored rubs beard
nice work @Matsv :+1:

:) Did you btw change the way you merge PR's?
Or did github change
Myles
@MylesIsCool
Apr 12 2016 11:07
github changed, allows squashing
Mats
@Matsv
Apr 12 2016 11:07
Nice :)
Lol we created it earlier then spigot 1.9 https://hub.spigotmc.org/jira/browse/SPIGOT-1811
:P
Myles
@MylesIsCool
Apr 12 2016 11:08
yeah ;)
I apologise for my inactivity recently, I got hired to do a project for a server. And all the time i've had free i've been trying to hunt down this chunk bug :(
Mats
@Matsv
Apr 12 2016 11:10
Oh did you commit not solve it yet?
Myles
@MylesIsCool
Apr 12 2016 11:10
Nope
seemed to make it happen a tiny bit less
but not solve it
The way to replicate which seems almost consistent is to switch worlds, around the same area in the worlds
Mats
@Matsv
Apr 12 2016 11:12
Ah
What kind of project btw? :)

Ah are you not allowed to tell? :P
Myles
@MylesIsCool
Apr 12 2016 11:15
Well it's more that, it's a really nice project and all and i'm really proud of it
It's just we have a licensing agreement that it can never be distributed or reused
(and that I can never code said thing again as a "remake")
Mats
@Matsv
Apr 12 2016 11:17
Ah ok
Myles
@MylesIsCool
Apr 12 2016 11:18
we could make some sort of abstract class
which implements listener
and have a isCompatible
or something built in
Mats
@Matsv
Apr 12 2016 11:18
Yeah but you still have to set your protocol though
Myles
@MylesIsCool
Apr 12 2016 11:19
in the constructor for the listener super(ProtocolPipeline.XYZ);
etc
Mats
@Matsv
Apr 12 2016 11:19
