I am having issues getting the basic samples to work. It's probably a mixup of versions somewhere or something that I completely misunderstand - but I could use a helping hand to point me in the right direction. I want to simply run the basic example on MacOS using the latest .Net Core 1.1. Is that possible?
The samples in the tutorials are not working.
When I fiddle around with it, so most common error I get is:
error : Package Portable.BouncyCastle 1.8.1 is not compatible with netcoreapp1.1
Thanks

@deanott nice you got sorted :)
@mfamfa add the nuget 1.8.1.1 first
that will get you sorted
what sample are you trying to run?

Does this code will work with Parity? new Kovan testnet is available with parity only as of now.

Yes it does work with parity
Im working on adding the extra specific parity apis now

OK Great Jaun.
It will work same way, right?

all the eth apis follow the same standards
so they can be switched between the different clients

Alright

@juanfranblanco
Mar 16 2017 08:03
sometimes there are small discrepancies, but those are due to the node clients geth or parity not implementing it correctly
but those are "bugs" on their part
contracts / evm / accounts etc are the same

ok got it

none standard apis, provide the value add element for each implementation
for example geth is the basis for Quorum
and parity has also got their own custom consensus which can be plugged

I m bit confuse, Consensus is same for ethereum, irrespective of node client. correct?
Juan Blanco
@juanfranblanco
Mar 16 2017 08:08
yes on the public ethereum network
Priyank Jani
@PriyankJani_twitter
Mar 16 2017 08:08
ok\
Yes, In kovan they have implemented POA
Juan Blanco
@juanfranblanco
Mar 16 2017 08:09
exactly
Priyank Jani
@PriyankJani_twitter
Mar 16 2017 08:09
So in that way consensus is different
Juan Blanco
@juanfranblanco
Mar 16 2017 08:09
yep
but the beauty is that all have the same evm, api, accounts, etc
Priyank Jani

Mar 16 2017 08:10
yes, because verification methodology changed. over all operations remains same.
I was expecting PoS instead of PoA.
Juan Blanco
@juanfranblanco
Mar 16 2017 08:12
yes so your core investment which will be your solidity smart contracts, front end / backend etc will be unaffected
yes PoS is another story

may be and may be not. I was using Geth ropsten and Running pilot. suddenly it stops syncing. So Now i need to move to Kovan.

mainly is like moving to another sql server instance

Mar 16 2017 08:15
so, again contract hosting and environment creation.
Juan Blanco
@juanfranblanco
Mar 16 2017 08:15
you just need to "restore" your contracts
exactly
Priyank Jani
@PriyankJani_twitter
Mar 16 2017 08:15
i wish, it would be easy like changes SQL instance name.
Juan Blanco
@juanfranblanco
Mar 16 2017 08:16
well you still need to do a restore on a new sql instance
