Hi! @MSusik I have created this channel on Gitter (which we use heavily on INSPIRE), so that we can easily sinchronize WRT python-orcid development.
If you don't know about gitter, it's basically similar to Slack, it's a chat that overlays on top of Github, and integrates with all the repos, issues etc.
WRT ORCID/python-orcid@c3240da we noticed the upgrade.
Thanks for it. It took us a while to notice that you had pushed the new commit, though. So just to ensure everybody involved is notified I enabled the branch protection of master for the repo
so that new contributions can come always in the form of an open PR, and everybody can help in code review.

Hi! It seems like a good idea. Although I am suprised that you didn't have any notification about the change, as I called you in the PR after the changes were pushed.

The thing is that nowadays most notifications (e.g. through integrated gitter/chrome plugins) passes only through PR/issues. The commit pushed directly to master instead can be noticed only via email/rss but nowadays these are simply too much of a flood
Related to this specific notification, I'll double check :)

Hello,
any ideas for ORCID/python-orcid#14 ?
Mateusz Susik
@MSusik

Hello!

The best way would be:

1). Check the docs or xsd file
2). Fix
Probably wrong value in one of the fields or wrong structure of the example
In this code, no need to touch the actual code
Samuele Kaplun
@kaplun
@Panos512 looks like the JSON interface is not aligned with the XML one https://api.orcid.org/v2.0_rc2/#!/Member_API_v2.0_rc2/createWork
Maybe that we have to ping ORCID devs?
Panos Paparrigopoulos
@Panos512
That could explain the problem. I will send an email to them. Cheers :dancer:

Hi! We are seeing an error on our production using python-orcid-0.5.1 (hence a bit outdated)
Seems like in the past it was possible to retrieve activities of a profile using the member api without an access token.
This seems no longer possible
is this correct?
Mateusz Susik
@MSusik
I'm not 100% sure, but probably yes
Robert Peters
@rcpeters

Yes. That changed. Before it was possible to read public with 2.0_rc+ member API without a token. It was patched to match 1.2.

I'm actually on family leave. With the schema issue email w.simpson@orcid.org and c.oyler@orcid.org. It's most likely a misunderstanding (or just not clear) on how to use/map the xml to json since it's the same interface under the hood.

@kaplun
@rcpeters thanks!

Hi, I'm sure this is not the best place to ask so please direct me to a better place, but how do I link orcid with github username?
