I just want to ask can we get this offer from OSGeo too.
This question struck my mind when one of the GCI winner asked me this question.
"didn't your org offers you a membership? I saw your profile your org name was not mentioned in the org section."
So, can I hear some good news from your side?

I don't think there is a consensus on maintaining organization memberships "just for the badge", because with an org team membership you receive certain permissions but also it comes with obligations. I would say that org members, that do not contribute anymore, aren't something an org wants to manage.
So the way to "win" the badge is to stay a contributor of the project.

The GSoC (Google Summer of Code) program as far as I know it still running, and I think that we need to prepare for the future.
A good way to prepare for the future is to know our environment, and in this case based on the experience of GCI last year, I will specifically talk about the OSGeo environment.
You don't need to start on "complicated" tasks, like my case, I started my participation on OSGeo doing translations on the pgRouting project. That is how I got to know the project I evolved and now I am part of the PSC of pgRouting.
So back to a "non complicated" task: Translations
Some of you are still in high school, , but on time you will be moving to University, and maybe you would like to apply to GSoC. What is your interest? now? then?, we don't know. That you need to find out. I certainly would like to have you back but on the GSoC program.
So lets start with a first step: translate

We have Hindi among many others. If the language you plan to translate to is not in the list, you can request the language, and we will gladly create it.
The current condition we have to publish the translations of the documentation on the OSGeoLive website is to have at least 33% translated, preferably the overviews and files related to OSGeoLive (some are quickstarts).
