Kevin Godby
@godbyk
Okay. Can you show me your vrserver.txt and vrclient.txt log files from SteamVR?
cybermobile
@cybermobile
Kevin Godby
@godbyk
Hmm.. it sounds like it may be taking too long to get the first pose from the HDK. Lemme trace through the code to see what’s happening.
cybermobile
@cybermobile
ok, thanks for the help
Kevin Godby
@godbyk
@cybermobile When you’re running the OSVR server, which config file (if any) are you using? How are you starting up the server?
Alfredo
@alfa256
The docs are issue free :D
cybermobile
@cybermobile
osvr_server_config.HDK13ExtendedLandscape.sample.json
double clicking the exe osvr_server.exe to run the server
Kevin Godby
@godbyk
What happens if you run the server with the osvr_server_config.json file? (The one that just contains {}.)
cybermobile
@cybermobile
when I run that file it works with no errors
this is the error when I run streamvr now
vrpn_Endpoint::getOneTCPMessage: Can't read header (this is normal when a connection is dropped)
vrpn: TCP handling failed, dropping connection (this is normal when a connection is dropped)
Kevin Godby
@godbyk
Can you send me the vrserver.txt file again?
cybermobile
@cybermobile
maybe I need newer version of steamvr
driver
Kevin Godby
@godbyk
The error in the file I’m looking at is:
Tue Mar 15 01:28:39 2016 - osvr: Waiting for the context to fully start up...
Tue Mar 15 01:28:39 2016 - osvr: Waiting for the display to fully start up, including receiving initial pose update...
Tue Mar 15 01:28:45 2016 - osvr: Display startup timed out!
Tue Mar 15 01:28:45 2016 - Error Driver Failed (200): Unable to set HMD 0 in osvr as the driver
cybermobile
@cybermobile
okay so I need to get a newer verion of the driver
Kevin Godby
@godbyk
You can try the latest SteamVR-OSVR driver and see if it makes a difference. I don’t think any of the relevant code has changed recently, though.
cybermobile
@cybermobile
been since friday now to get a game working on the headset now
feels like I might never get vr working
Kevin Godby
@godbyk
Nah, we’ll get it running. Never fear!
cybermobile
@cybermobile
could it be the new nvidia driver
Kevin Godby
@godbyk
I don’t think so, though I saw something recently that said the very latested nVidia driver was problematic.
Which version of driver are you using?
cybermobile
@cybermobile
362
Kevin Godby
@godbyk
That version should be fine.
@cybermobile Which version of the HDK firmware are you running?
Also, if you run the Tracker Viewer, does it show the HDK moving around?
cybermobile
@cybermobile

Version 1.91 Mar 11 2016

Tracker:1.8.4.415

Kevin Godby
@godbyk
Okay, that’s good.
Have you tried running the tracker viewer app? You’ll need to start up the server first. Then run the tracker viewer app and move the HMD around. The axes in the viewer app should move accordingly.
cybermobile
@cybermobile
app doesn't work
just a white screen
Kevin Godby
@godbyk
A white screen?
The tracker viewer app should be a blue screen with a white grid and red-green-blue axes.
The tracker viewer app doesn’t run in the HDK. It’s a desktop program.
If you’re seeing a white screen in the HDK with SteamVR running, then that’s the SteamVR compositor. That’s a good thing. It means it’s ready to start a game.
cybermobile
@cybermobile
ok, on the HDK there is a windows with white background and it is the second window from the tracker viewer app
so something is happening now
Kevin Godby
@godbyk
Second window from the tracker viewer app? Can you take a screenshot?
cybermobile
@cybermobile

Kevin Godby
@godbyk
The hands part you can ignore. The head part looks good, though.
cybermobile
@cybermobile
the problem is the sensor doesn't turn on
Kevin Godby
@godbyk
The camera? Or something else?
cybermobile
@cybermobile
the screen on the HDK is upside down
camera
Kevin Godby
@godbyk
re: upside-down screen.. in the displays control panel is the display rotated?
When you start up the OSVR server, what does it print out?
