Hello
Oliver Caldwell
@Olical
Hey :)
Jimmy
@skylinezum
hi
Jimmy
@skylinezum
I'm trying to use react-faux-dom to render some lines, I can't seem to get it to run properly specifically on a server rendered app.
if ((m = ua.match(/MSIE ([^;]*)|Trident.*; rv(?:\s|:)?([0-9.]+)/)) &&
TypeError: ua.match is not a function
Is there any isomorphic examples of react-faux-dom and d3?
Jimmy
@skylinezum
nvm, i figured it out. It was a global scoped navigator instance colliding with the navigator in query-selector

Does this react-faux-dom work well with react-redux and react-router for adding D3 visualizations ?

@zepgupta
Hello, I'm looking for a good strong way to integrate d3 and react that will allow me to build my own custom svg based visualizations / charts, as opposed to getting a preset list of charts I can use in a library. In your experiences, which library should I use?
Oliver Caldwell
@Olical
@SherylHohman I can't see why it wouldn't work with Redux or any router.
@zepgupta Well this will allow you to deeply integrate React and D3 as long as you're building fairly simple visualisations. If you wish to have complex interactions in your charts you may want to use something like http://nicolashery.com/integrating-d3js-visualizations-in-a-react-app/

@zepgupta
@Olical Thanks for the advice. Can you help me understand better where the line between simple and complex lies? For example, if my data-set is a nested structure with anywhere from 300 to 900 nodes, each with only 3 or 4 key/values, is this considered complex? Or is it more that if I wish to have complex animations (like with krawaller's hook idea), that things should be considered more "complex". Additionally, can you help me understand why react-faux-dom should cause things to become clunky in react with "complex" visualizations (however we define complex)? From my understanding, react-faux-dom creates a 2nd fake dom, in addition to react's, which is used as a temporary placeholder for d3 operations until it is time to copy the changes to the react-dom. Therefore, in terms of computation or weight, it would double the weight of the d3 portion of the UI only. Is that so significant?

Hey. I'm trying to implement D3.JS with React in order to make advanced graph.
Is anyone can give me an example of React / ReactFauxDOM & D3.JS IN ES6 ? I didn't succes to translate the Oli exemple.
Thanks.
@Olical :)

Hey,
I'm pretty sure your last update (from v4.0.2 to 4.0.3 contained some breaking changes. this.state.chart became this.props.chart in all your examples, this.animateFauxDOM and this. connectFauxDOM doesn't work anymore.
Is it just me or should the version change be a major one ?

Hey guys,

I've searched everywhere for a canvas implementation example to follow, but could not find one. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the correct direction to using canvas in the faux DOM. I am able to render it using the DOM directly, but this violates the React manifesto- which is why we're here in the first place.

Thank you ahead of time.

Oops, nevermind. Found your comment from April. No support, got it.

@GreGGus examples have been updated and some more have been added recently, have a look at https://github.com/Olical/react-faux-dom#example ;)
@Xalio08 yes, 4.0.0 is the version with breaking changes but the minor versions were botched until 4.0.3, so we patched away. Basically, you could regard 4.0.3 as the 4.0.0 :grin:
