Kathleen Weaver
@kathweaver
I suspect I've been writing web tutorials longer than you've been alive :-)
Scott Lovegrove
@ScottIsAFool
@hashhar how long will that take to propogate to the website? and will it be http://openlivewriter.org/blog/feed.xml when it is live?
Scott Lovegrove
@ScottIsAFool
Ashhar Hasan
@hashhar
There are actually two, depending on the client you are using. atom.xml (Atom 1.0) and feed.xml(RSS 2.0)
Scott Lovegrove
@ScottIsAFool
Cool, just waiting to sort out the social media side, then I'll set up an IFTTT recipe
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
@hashhar I noticed this in the feed xml
blob
this should be openlivewriter.org, right?
Scott Lovegrove
@ScottIsAFool
@gep13 perhaps, but .com does redirect.
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
Not for me...
blob
Correction, openlivewriter.com redirects, but www.openlivewriter.com doesn't
perhaps something is missing in the URL Rewrites being used
Ashhar Hasan
@hashhar
Seems we had that for quite a long time now but never really noticed. Fixed it in OpenLiveWriter/OpenLiveWriter.Github.io#63
Redirects like wrong tld are dependant on your dns and the browser you use.
AFAIK
Kathleen Weaver
@kathweaver
@ferzkopp I've added a section to my GSOC page describing how to join the project. Feel free to correct me -- derived from the process I went through on a similar project.
Ashhar Hasan
@hashhar
I might not be around too much this week. I have tests from Monday. Will be back to normal by next Thursday and pick up some new issues from the OLW repo.
Kathleen Weaver
@kathweaver
Good luck on tests -- though you don't need luck , you have mad skills.

@ScottIsAFool @willduff @martinwoodward We have been telling people that email isn't a feature of LiveWriter, but it looks like it might have been. I've seen references in the post code to email.
Scott Lovegrove
@ScottIsAFool
Can you point us to the reference?
Kathleen Weaver
@kathweaver
I haven't gotten far, but in OpenLiveWriter.PostEditor there is a folder called Mail. So then I started a search on Mail
Kathleen Weaver
@kathweaver
There are quite a few references to email in PostEditor.
Isn't these some type of programming "law" that states that program increase complexity to the point of sending email?
Scott Lovegrove
@ScottIsAFool
ohh, that.
correct me if im wrong @willsuff, but i think that was some of the code writer shared with what was windows live mail.
which was using writer's html editor for composing emails.
Kathleen Weaver
@kathweaver
Okay, I will stop digging there, though I'll end up reading it.
Will Duff
@willduff
@kathweaver Yes, I've heard that quote before :smiley: and in this case its sort of true. @ScottIsAFool is correct. The core of Writer - its HTML editor - was refactored back in 2009 to be hosted inside of the Windows Live Mail application for composing emails. It was one of the first things I worked on when I started on the Writer team that year. I removed most of the code but there are still a few remnants around I'm sure.
Andreas Schiffler
@ferzkopp
@katweaver Thanks for the content. I am traveling and don't have much time at the moment, but will try to get the application together by tomorrow since the deadline looms.
Kathleen Weaver
@kathweaver
So removing that code would be a good thing?
Will Duff
@willduff
@f
@ferzkopp Can you add me to the GSoC mail thread if you have one going? Sorry for not jumping in sooner, missed a few messages
@kathweaver I'm looking at your pull request for the GSoC page now
also, @kathweaver , for the most part I'd just leave the Mail code for now until we have a proper test suite to help catch regressions from changing it. Not a priority to address yet, but we will get around to it!
Fatih Kadir Akın
@f
seems like someone mentioned me :)
Kathleen Weaver
@kathweaver
@willduff I would really like to learn how to write unit tests, where can you point me/
Kathleen Weaver
@kathweaver
@ferzkopp You are welcome -- let me know what we need for an application and I'll help how I can.
Andreas Schiffler
@ferzkopp
@willduff can you send me your email (to aschiffler at ferzkopp dot net) and I'll add you. Deadline for completing the application is today and there are a bunch of field to fill in still.
@kathweaver can you log into the GSoC org admin site and fill in as much stuff as you can. I'll jump in during the day (finally good internet again, yey) and try to complete the rest. Can you email me the URL of the GSoC ideas page? Google for "GSoC Ideas" and you'll find a lot of pages from other orgs as example how our page should look like. I'd like to have at least 3 ideas with some decent content.

@ScottIsAFool
why isn't the 0.6 blog post showing on the blog? It got merged, right?
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
@ScottIsAFool I can see it
Scott Lovegrove
@ScottIsAFool
Ohhhh, I was looking at the blog, not the news section :)
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13

Will Duff
@willduff
@ferzkopp @kathweaver Trying to finish the GSoC application now, its due in 2.5 hours
