I can work on the French translation of OLW... Do we have a .po file or a file with English items to be translated ?

@Johnson9009
hello
DigitalDavo
@DigitalDavo
Development seems to have ground to a halt on Open Live Writer. I see that WordPress.com desktop / Calypso is slowly and steadily moving forward on windows and osx - so it looks to me like OLW is being left behind as releases are seeming rare over here. Is there anything to look forward to here guys?
Moryason
@Moryason
Sad because WLW and OLW are nice to have or must have desktop apps for bloggers
Scott Lovegrove
@ScottIsAFool
Unfortunately, development of OLW is done in people's spare time, so how much work gets done depends on how much spare time people currently have. I think there is still some stuff that hasn't been released, although I'm not sure why it hasn't been. I need to speak with @martinwoodward
Michael Grünwaldt
@gruenwaldt
Wordpress.com desktop is a nice one. I tried it out yesterday. But it's not working offline. So you can use the website instead. I like it to be able to write offline. So i stay with OLW.
David Gardiner
@flcdrg
There does appear to be a bit of a "log jam" of PRs in the repo at the moment. I'm definitely keen to submit some more but if they're just going to sit there then there's not as much motivation to keep going :-(
Rob Fulwell
@rfulwell

Hi, folks! I'm new to OpenLiveWriter and a user of Orchard CMS so I chose this issue to start with. I had a quick look around for the protocol on pull requests but I hope someone here can tell what I should do with the changes I have ready to go.

BTW, I apologize for coding before getting consensus on the change but I wanted to make sure I would be able to complete the changes in a timely fashion before I spoke up. Cheers!

Ah, here's the issue link: OpenLiveWriter/OpenLiveWriter#460

@rfulwell
Does OLW have any analytics built in that would give us an idea of active user count?
Aga Ninja
@tenisowo_twitter
What about mass adding article with synonyms {word1|word2} (send article with synonyms into few blogs in one time) ? :)
Aga Ninja
@tenisowo_twitter
  • mass import blog (example: domain;login;password
Scott Lovegrove
@ScottIsAFool
@fulwell I believe it does have some, yes. Would need to investigate that. @martinwoodward
Matt Baer
@thebaer
Hi, I've launched a blogging platform I want to integrate with OLW. What's the best way to start going about this, or where can I find that information?
Joe Audette
@joeaudette
@thebaer what platform/framework are you trying to implement it on? information is relatively scant, but I've implemented support for OLW via metaweblog api in my SimpleContent blog, the important bits are re-useable in my MetaWeblog project, these target c#/asp.net core
Scott Lovegrove
@ScottIsAFool
@thebaer once you have implemented any one of a number of different platforms that Writer supports (Atom/metaweblog/movabletype/etc), then it would be worth including a wlwmanifest file on your site which can tell live writer exactly what features have been implemented https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb463260.aspx
David Gardiner
@flcdrg
@ScottIsAFool @martinwoodward Just wondering if there's any other ways I can help out with the OLW project? I've got two PRs that have been sitting there for a few months now (not to mention the 17 others). The issue list is building, but there hasn't been any commits to master since March. After the initial burst of enthusiasm following the open-sourcing, I'm worried that things might be stagnating, and am keen to find out if there's anything I can do to help avoid that.

@flcdrg we are planning to try and get the ball rolling again soon.

I think I might be coming back. I finally finished my own project.

Matt Baer
@thebaer
@joeaudette I could probably go with MetaWeblog since that seems relatively simple. But thanks for the links, I'll use those as a basis as I implement it in Go.
@ScottIsAFool thanks, I'll make sure I do that
Rob Fulwell
@rfulwell
@flcdrg @ScottIsAFool @martinwoodward +1 I am willing to volunteer if we need code reviews or other process to unblock integrations. I am new to open source but I have significant industry experience. What is the bar for code that is accepted to the main branch? The road map I was able to find seems a bit out of date. Do we have stakeholders with a vision for where the project is going now?
Matt Ploszanski
@chewyland
Hi guys
anyone here...I am trying to figure out how to install the latest version..I am still stuck on the old one
Scott Lovegrove
@ScottIsAFool
@chewyland what version does it say you have when you click on File > About?
@rfulwell we are starting to get a bit more on track with the project, so things will start rolling again soon. Good to know we have a willing volunteer to help though, that will help us a lot.
Matt Ploszanski
@chewyland
0.6.0.0
It's the same one since the beginning of the year
I wish could help with development..but perhaps I can help with a few bug fixes?
Scott Lovegrove
@ScottIsAFool
Yes, 0.6.0.0 is the current release, we are looking at getting a more regular update cycling going.

Hi All, I have used WLW in past and was delighted to see that it has revived and is back in open dev. Since, now I have picked up some C#, I would like to be part of this awesome tool. However, it is my first OSS I am feeling comfortable to contribute to as I have used it myself. It will be great help me in getting started with it. I am open to any sort of task. Thanks.
Scott Lovegrove
@ScottIsAFool
@joshiji feel free to have a look through any of the issues flagged as help wanted https://github.com/OpenLiveWriter/OpenLiveWriter/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+label%3A%22help+wanted%22

Hey there guys, I'm new here
wildbl67
@wildbl67
Hello , I am new here as well. I was looking for more documentation - specifically for the spell checker.
I Have downloaded the latest version of the source code and would like to attempt to add that ability for Win7
Ashhar Hasan
@hashhar
@wildbl67 The spell checker is a native Windows 8 component as far as I know.
Scott Lovegrove
@ScottIsAFool
Correct, it's native to Windows 8 and above, we're just utilising the built in one.

hi guys, I am new here and actually just have one question want to ask. my company would like to use Open Live Writer on the website for ppl to edit article and image. but can we get some of functions only not all the functions ?
Fabio Maulo
@fabiomaulo_twitter
Just as info, here is the "resurrected" VSPaste plugin (with some touch), now for OLW https://bitbucket.org/fabiomaulo/vspasteresurrected/downloads

Asking before searching, do you know if there is a way to select which type of post to create?
