@gep13 , interesting, I didn't see that because I built and ran from inside VS2019. I'll check it out...

@JimGalasyn that would be great, thank you! The creation of the installer package, and the Chocolatey package is done outside of Visual Studio, I think, and I would like to test the change that I make to ensure that it works as expected
@gep13 , hmm, I have MSBuild installed, but this puppy wants the VS2015 version of the build tools, so I'm a bit stuck.

Can you confirm you have the latest source code downloaded?
Does it correctly find/use the VSSetup PowerShell cmdlet ?
It tells me "In order to run this tool you need either Visual Studio 2015 or Microsoft Build Tools 2015 tools installed" and sends me to a defunct link -- why they no use redirect? :D VS generally does side-by-side installations well, but still I'd rather not install VS2015 stuff with my VS2019 bits.

@JimGalasyn hmmm, sounds like you are getting further through the build process than I am. Hopefully @jongalloway might be able to shed some light on this.
Hello! I am new in this section so please excuse my stupid questions. Where can I find the basic objectives/features for Live Writer? I have used LW since its inception at Microsoft and much has changed since it was orphaned. The need to support mobile devices has made wysiwyg next to impossible. WordPress has gone off the deep end with "blocks" and the style trends have made sites "sights to behold". It seems that LW needs to support more than it currently does. What is being planned? Is there someone who supports the users and keeps the public up-to-date?
Hello all. I'm an OLW user. I'm checking in to see if anyone is working on a fix for Issue 786. This issue is unresolved and represents a major issue for all OLW users. Any assistance here would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
Thanks, Martin. It says it was open for test on 1/19, but apparently hasn't been deployed. I followed the link in the announcement, but I don't know what is to be done with the list of files.
Hello - OLW is not functioning properly again. Posts can't be published with images resulting in a message: The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request. This may have to do with Google Photos Library API authorization (I'm not a tech person). This is playing out as issue 786 in Github. Thanks to anyone who can address it.
@martingbrown Hi Martin - OLW is broken again. Do you know if any fix is being worked on? Same issue - publishing with photos.
Hi all, I'm going to try my best on #786/Google Photos support. Has any work or planning been commenced so far?
Google seemingly has no supported .NET API client for Google Photos. I'll see if I can implement a minimal one for the project
Using https://github.com/google/apis-client-generator to generate a C# Google Photos API client. The generated code is Apache licensed, I've inserted it as a new project inside the solution. Not sure if there'd be a more appropriate place to put it.
Attempting a 1:1 conversion of the Picasa album process to Google Photos. Should be able to use the existing 'Open Live Writer' album
Uploading and adding to the OLW album now working, now working on embedding and some other errors that have arisen
@nvella I tried going down that path, and it sounds like you've made it further than I did. Keep up the good work and best of luck to you!
@JimGalasyn Thanks :) I'm currently investigating ways to obtain a permalink to a gphotos image. Found a website which does it so just have to reverse engineer it. Don't know if Google will keep letting people do this so I may eventually look into just adding pluggable image hosts into OLW.
Hi all. I've been noticing some inconsistencies between the Strings resx file and the CSV from which it's generated. Going forward, could we make all our changes to Strings.csv and then use LocUtil to regen StringId.cs and Strings.resx? I've added a .cmd file to the root of the repo for easy regen of strings, it's in my static-site-gen branch currently but should make it into master eventually
Hello everyone. 😊
Jason N. Gaylord
It's been quiet with OpenLiveWriter as of late. Is the project still being maintained?
Is the project dead? Is anyone maintaining a fork?
My assessment is that it is being maintained but it is not being actively developed. There was an issue with it becoming incompatible with Google photos API which got fixed fairly quickly, but nothing much else has happened recently.
I hope they do a rewrite,
Team I was wondering how hard it is to add a new platform to OpenLiveWriter?
Specifically I wanted to see if I could writte something that would work with Khoros (formally Lithium)
why isnt this available for Linux Distros?
I will start with the same question as everyone, is this project actively maintained? :)
