@redshiftzero
@McEileen, hmm try setting the AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID as an env var (my bad, we added this docker compose dev env some months ago and might not have updated the docs)
McEileen
@McEileen
but I thought this portion of the docker-compose file would take care of things :
AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID: "${AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID}"
AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY: "${AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY}"
AWS_DEFAULT_REGION: "${AWS_DEFAULT_REGION}"
S3_BUCKET_NAME: "${S3_BUCKET_NAME}"
@redshiftzero will do
redshiftzero
@redshiftzero
@fritzdavenport: that would be super helpful, see lucyparsons/OpenOversight#171
McEileen
@McEileen
also, I support the mock s3 idea!
redshiftzero
@redshiftzero
hey im goin afk for a bit to do my dishes (lol) so im gonna sign out of the goog hangout room (this miiiight kick out existing people), bbiab
Dan Staples
@dismantl
@McEileen to get those environment variables into docker, I copied the .env file I created into the root directory of the repo (symlink also works), then source .env, followed by make start or docker-compose up -d

@brianmwaters
my friend and comrade emily is here just doing the "volunteer" tab on OO and getting super excited every time she ID's someone that's not in there already :)
Jack Laxson
@jrabbit
hello :wave:
McEileen
@McEileen
@dismantl thanks! I followed those steps, except I ran make dev instead of make start, and it still didn't work... It also didn't work when I did docker-compose up. I'm working on Mason on postgres stuff now, but I'll try to figure it out again later.
Fritz Davenport
@fritzdavenport
@redshiftzero or @anyone - we got an issue on /cop_face/image... - we are cropping the image appropriately and sometimes it rotates the image off what we were looking at and zooms in incorrectly on the profile. Is that a known bug?
Jack Laxson
@jrabbit
does the docker dev/prod stuff need love?
I notice there's a browser being installed into the web container?
Mason D.
@r4v5
there isn't currently a prod docker container. The dev container does have firefox installed in it, because it runs integration tests with selenium, but the prod container probably doesn't need that :)

@fritzdavenport
K U B E R N E T E S
:D
D E V O P S
Jack Laxson
@jrabbit
well I could refactor that into a seperate image that depends on web
Mason D.
@r4v5
please, this is what i do to relax and get away from k8s :)
Fritz Davenport
@fritzdavenport
k8s is bae....8s...
Jack Laxson
@jrabbit
I like my smol compose stacks and such :O
Fritz Davenport
@fritzdavenport
Sometimes I just like to boot EC2s and just apt-get install things to feel something again
Jack Laxson
@jrabbit
anywho if you havethe default setups the perms get kinda fucky
ah great got it to work :)
redshiftzero
@redshiftzero
hey mind if I rebase #566 @McEileen ? [asking in case you are already doing this]
McEileen
@McEileen
@redshiftzero go for it! I just went "OOF" out loud after looking at the git history
redshiftzero
@redshiftzero
ha no worries
Fritz Davenport
@fritzdavenport
can anyone save me from myself? I am trying to get off my work git creds. my --global git creds are set up correctly
Jack Laxson
@jrabbit
you should be able to check whats up with git config itself maybe?
Mason D.
@r4v5
I don't quite get your question; are you asking re: github code pushes (which is ssh key based) or re: commits (which can have authorship amended by something like git commit --amend --author 'Totally Not Doing NonWork Things on Work Laptop Person <ValuableEmployee@earthlink.net>')
Fritz Davenport
@fritzdavenport
ohhhhhh @r4v5 wicked smart. Didn't think about the ssh key
Jack Laxson
@jrabbit
ya you can set your author ezpz in .git/config
Fritz Davenport
@fritzdavenport
I think that's the problem
also - can I snag push perms for https://github.com/fritzdavenport
redshiftzero
@redshiftzero
you can fork the repo and make a PR that way (by default maintainers can push to your remote, so we can collaborate that way)
Fritz Davenport
@fritzdavenport
ooooo. smart
danks :D
Fritz Davenport
@fritzdavenport
@here does flake8 currently work on master?
and by master I mean dev?
Jack Laxson
@jrabbit
it doesn't like install it locally for you no
redshiftzero
@redshiftzero
if you install the requirements in dev-requirements.txt, running flake8 should return 0
Fritz Davenport
@fritzdavenport

YO I DID MY FIRST OPEN SOURCE PR THO
I'M A REAL PERSON NOWWWWW
redshiftzero
@redshiftzero
lol
hmm can you run flake8 --version
Fritz Davenport
@fritzdavenport
$  flake8 --version
3.6.0 (mccabe: 0.6.1, pycodestyle: 2.4.0, pyflakes: 2.0.0) CPython 3.7.1 on Linux
redshiftzero
@redshiftzero
ah, the deviation is due to your local development environment using version 3.6.0 whereas dev-requirements.txt has version 3.5.0 pinned
are you using a virtualenv?
