@GarrettHour_twitter: afaik there are plans to support custom-scenario packs, so that everyone can compile a list of scenarios that unlock others in the set.
Michael Steenbeek
@Gymnasiast
^ That. By the way, I personally like the maian_sos pack of RCT1-like scenarios.

Would it be okay to create a permission that allows users to join/disconnect silently (as in, not show the user joining the game or disconnecting)? If people have a group for banned people, they can still continue to connect/disconnect under multiple names.
wolfreak99
@wolfreak99
also, on topic of the scenario packs.. I have a branch of the scenario window with tabs that can be sorted through, i believe i showed it when i suggested the idea of including tabs for any folders containing scenarios inside the scenarios (i.e. "/OpenRCT2/Scenarios/maian_sos/" showing up as a tab "maian_sos", "/OpenRCT2/Scenarios/v-vr-scenario-packs/" showing up as "v-vr-scenario-packs"), however i was never actually able to figure how to load the folder contents into the list, and i didn't attempt to modify the scenariorepository code to get it to work (as i feel it would be a waste of time, only to get stuck in that "too much code modified" PR limbo).. i could maybe throw the PR up as a prototype?

@marijnvdwerf
@janisozaur In case you ever want to add more asserts: ColourMapA[w->colours[1]] seems to be commonly used, and if the window is transparent, that will be outside the array bounds.
Michael Steenbeek
@Gymnasiast
@wolfreak99 I think it's probably better to wait a bit with that, at least until we get our release out and when we get the enormous number of open PRs down a bit.
wolfreak99
@wolfreak99
yeah.. i'm definitely no help for that giant number. ;D
Hielke Morsink
@Broxzier
@wolfreak99: You can actually help by testing them
wolfreak99
@wolfreak99
I'm implying that i'm no help with the number being so high.

@duncanspumpkin
Testing required on OpenRCT2/OpenRCT2#4786 if anyone has a spare moment. I've modified the code for placeing any element. Check that the game doesnt crash when you run out of free map elements and that you can place items when there are free elements. I think ive tested every type but its always best to get another set of eyes on it.

Can we revert the #4615 commit until it gets fixed? I don't mean to sound complainy, but to keep this in here is kinda silly. I like the idea it was going for, but it causing servers to crash when someone attempts to load a new game is really bad. The previous method worked just fine, the only problem was logging into servers with CS you'd get disconnected for the delay of it freezing while it saved the custom scenery and refreshed the cache, which all it took was just logging out and logging back in.
i'm not speaking on my own terms either. people always load maps on multiplayer, weather it was to jump back to a previous autosave if someone griefs, or to start a new server, or to start a clean map.

@Nubbie
Can we stop the discussion at #3155 as it's two servers going at eachother it seems
Michael Steenbeek
@Gymnasiast
@wolfreak99 Janisozaur has pushed a fix. Could you verify this solves the problem?
@Nubbie IntelOrca seems to have locked it already. The login system seems to be a controversial subject.
Michał Janiszewski
@janisozaur
I'll add a comment to #3155 later on with a bit of technical info
wolfreak99
@wolfreak99
@Gymnasiast I won't be able to test it until tommorow morning but honestly the crash only takes starting a new server with a map and loading another map / scenario. If you can start a new server and load two maps without a crash it should work but I could download openrct2 in a virtual computer and try the sending objects or whatnot janisozaur is talking about
wolfreak99
@wolfreak99
Honestly, alot of improvements could come out of being able to have a registered identity on here. For example, showing who is in a network group. It would be cool to have a portion of the group page show the users in the currently selected group, but if JohnnyBoy is listed under TrustedUser, and then JohnnyBoy switches his name without notice to MegaMan, and a MegaMan shows up under the group, the average joe won't know how to take that in and might fear the system is glitchy and allows just anyone into any group. "I don't know who this person is how did they get here? Where's Johnnyboy?". And if being able to change the name is still wanted theres always a username and display name choice.
people keep referring to anonymity on the game, like it's tor or something or we're talking about underground activity that could put our life on risk. it's just a game, people log on to play game.
And the need for a login server is obviously still a popular demand, considering Mozars, ManOfTeal are both a thing that do very well.
wolfreak99
@wolfreak99
i mean, development needs it's not really something that's needed at the very second, but i odn't see why it shouldn't be in by like, version 0.1.0 or something. but imma shut up.
Michael Steenbeek
@Gymnasiast
There will be a central authentication server to prevent impersonation. Server owners will be able to decide whether they want to use it for their server or not. (I.e. the old system will remain available for server owners to use if they wish.)
Larry98
@TheLarry98
Hi Guys
Did you change something on the "select rides like in rct1" thing? It seems to be not correct
Michael Steenbeek
@Gymnasiast
No, we didn't change anything, or at least not deliberately.
Larry98
@TheLarry98
okay than I will open a bug report on the issue tracker
Ted John
@IntelOrca
its been buggy from the start, @Gymnasiast already has a solution but it will be a major chunk of work not necessarily to be done any time soon
Larry98
@TheLarry98
@IntelOrca Do you talk about select rides like in rct1? I never had any problems with it.
Marijn van der Werf
@marijnvdwerf
The text drawing functions seem to be designed to all have a different parameter order :P
Marijn van der Werf
@marijnvdwerf
@Broxzier Curious, when you wrote the tile inspector, where did you base it on? Because most calls seem to use green text
Hielke Morsink
@Broxzier
@marijnvdwerf: I'm not sure what you mean with green text
Marijn van der Werf
@marijnvdwerf
blob
The labels are green
(It's barely noticable, I only saw it once I went over the function call)
Hielke Morsink
@Broxzier
Ah those, I believe that's colour 12, it was already being used for the tile inspector before I started working on it
Now I think of it, it should probably be made more consistent, at least a macro with the value so all can be changed in one go.
Marijn van der Werf
@marijnvdwerf
Other windows technically have the same issue with 'black' text, but I just found green odd
Michał Janiszewski
@janisozaur
@marijnvdwerf does your fish support bash-like for?
for i in "a b c" ; do echo $i ; done?
Marijn van der Werf
@marijnvdwerf
Doesn't do anything
Seems like its expecting more input
Hielke Morsink
@Broxzier
For me it simply prints a b c in one go
With "a" "b" "c" as input it does split them though
Michał Janiszewski
@janisozaur
Yeah, my bad
Marijn van der Werf
@marijnvdwerf
You do mean as direct input, right?
Michael Steenbeek
@Gymnasiast
@Horsti12 Just fixed it.
Larry98
@TheLarry98
@Gymnasiast Okay good :D Thanks :)
