I think I prefer too having a 3 column layout design. Like we spoke about last week. We can easily collapse the menu items if we need to display a list of content items in that second column.
What I don't like about the other menu you integrated is that it adds a lot of blank spaces. It pushes the content to the right. And what would happens if we had 10 levels of sub-menus ?

3 columns? I am thinking a like of buttons on the left columns, then a treeview in the second one, and each line can have a contextual menu, in or not in a third column

I think it would look better by using a treeview in the second column like in Umbraco

In the example above, I have the same thing with an option to not show the previous levels on the right

exactly
i like that
3 columns with a treeview in the second column.
And we could let people have wider first column
or on mouse-over it could widen up
I think we could come up with a better design for accordions in there too

accordions ?
Jasmin Savard
@Skrypt
Sep 08 2016 22:13
collapsible or accordions
right now these are collapsible sections
in VS Code

oh, I see, I saw something like this
you prefer accordions?
do you have any link to an example?

yeah somehow they would make this second column to pratically never need to be scrolled if there is a lot of items in a section
that's the advantage of the accordions over the collapsible panels. But could be both. They have both advantages/inconvenients
problem with treeviews is that if you have a lot of sub-sections it will require that we have a scrollbar in the bottom of that second column
Sébastien Ros

so only one section is always open?
Jasmin Savard
@Skrypt
Sep 08 2016 22:16
only one section per level

I don't get why they say it's an accordion but I think this is a better example
same thing than this but make it open only one section per level at a time :)

with identation or not ?
let me try that right away should not be hard to do, the tagging and css is quite simple

I think right now we don't have enough sub-menu items to care about indentation. I don't think we will ever end up with needing a bottom scrollbar. But that's something to considerate
