@roballred there is a widget called Blog Archives for that, you add it directly to a zone, from the widgets section

does anyone have any links to demos of Orchard's Lightweight Scripting module?

@jean i don't remember seeing any of those, but considering the Lightweight Scripting expressions are a subset of IronRuby expressions, looking at the latter might be of some help

@vlatkost the most likely starting point I've found so far is https://github.com/Lombiq/Orchard-Scripting-Extensions but that doesn't have any examples ..

@jean it all depends what you want to achieve

@vlatkost I want to implement some site-specific behaviour that is managed at the content level without creating an extension module

and adding scripting rules, like the OrchardHUN.Scripting.Rules part of the github link is not what you're looking for?

it might be --- but no docs or examples that I could find ..
I've enabled the Lightweight scripting module, but don't see it reflected in the admin UI

there is nothing in the UI, since it;s mostly used to add rules to the specific layers
like if in widgets, you create a layer or edit a layer

ah :-)
vlatkost
@vlatkost
Nov 22 2016 06:45
you can write expressions
so that layer only works under that specific condition/rule/expression
like for example the hompage has a rule url(~/)
while the default layer that is for all pages just true
if you are looking to expose something extra on the admin UI, i guess making a module is the way to go
if you are looking for something under the hood, depending
you might want to add your own code or use workflows

the main thing is we have many sites, with slightly differing requirements, and would like to avoid adding code to all of them, or adding many similar modules
vlatkost
@vlatkost
Nov 22 2016 07:04
as i said, if those requirements are what gets shown on a page based on a certain rule, then you would add layers with those rules
if it is a specific action that needs to be taken based on certain input by user, I'd look into the workflows
for anything else I guess it's best to talk to @sebastienros or @BenedekFarkas , as it's way out of my knowledge on the subject

hello everyone
@sebastienros the string literals used in the latest patch to 1.10.x are wrong. I am pushing a PR to fix it.

@vlatkost that widget does not provide a link to all archives, and from what I can tell the blog module does not provide any way to get to a view of all archives for a blog. I have been wrong before, let me know if I am missing something
