    Hi All im mahmoud and ive searched about implementing the IOS App and Using sockets to transfer data in a bidirectional way and that the GoPro has its own wifi that i could connect to it with the IOS device or a PC . It also has its own live streaming when accessing the gate way . We could also Live stream from a GoPro Hero3 + camera to RTMP server using FFmpeg and please if there is something i am missing please im here to help
    mahmoudashraf93
    @mahmoudashraf93
    found some tutorials where you can get the live streaming of a GoPro but what you had to connect to the goPro Wifi . what i found is that we can Live stream from a go Pro to a RTMP server using FFmpeg as said here (https://gist.github.com/laurieainley/7663756) . and ive found this library (https://github.com/jgh-/VideoCore)and also FFmpeg have their own SDK to which would stream the retrieved video from goPro to the server using the Cellular Data of mobile
    so what should i be start working on any help Please?

    Hello @laa-1-yay! Welcome. This idea "GoPro-Gateway" is a "collateral" project that we would develop because one of the main problems in real-time streaming services is the content production, and we think that this could be a very interesting media source. This goal is very simple, but unfortunately, none has been done until now (apologies). So, any kind of research on this idea will be useful.
    Hi @mahmoudashraf93. Lot's of thanks for the information!! Do you have access to a GoPro?
    mahmoudashraf93
    @mahmoudashraf93
    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz actually not :S but ill try my best to borrow one these days

    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz
    @mahmoudashraf93 we have access to a GoPro here. We can test your code on that.

I really like the idea of the project and I would like to make my own contribution to it. Please contact me via email at topcoderkz@gmail.com and we can discuss about its future implementation. Thanks.

    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz
    @TopCoderKZ, thanks for your interest in the project. We can use the e-mail for talking, but we would prefer, at least at this stage of the development of this idea, to make all our comments in this (public) room. However, feel free to contact with us at info@p2psp.org. Thanks.

    Hello @MarcosSorribas. At this moment, this idea is only that. Sorry. Any kind of contribution, even tiny!, is an advance. Thanks!

    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz Hello, I'm Sravan, from Bangalore (India). I'm very keen on working on an Android app that implements a GoPro gateway. Assuming I come up with a way to do this, how can I get in touch with you?

    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz
    Hello @shubhamrathi36 and @sravan953! Welcome. This project don't have an official mentor, yet. All the information about this idea we have (until now) is published at the idea's Web page and in this room. This room is also the main source of information for all of us and the best way to keep in touch. However, if you want to have some privacy, you can write to me a direct message using Gitter or write to info@p2psp.org. Best, Vi.

    Hello everyone, my name is Ryan Fletcher and I'm a prospective GSOC '16 applicant from Boston, MA [USA]. I have two years of experience in Android dev. This looks like a very interesting project and, reading through the messages, the projects seems to be just in an idea stage. I was thinking we could all do some research as how to tackle the engineering and then put together a team for Android and a team for IOS. I took a look at the research posted above and the task does not seem too complicated. I was also thinking of getting a consensus on where to send the video on the internet - let's come up with a useful end-goal and create a decision matrix. What are everyone's thoughts? Cheers!
    Sravan Ravi
    @sravan953
    @ryansnowboarder Sounds like a plan, but a plan that does not necessarily include GSoC? :P
    Vicente González Ruiz
    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz
    Welcome @belkhadir. My only advice is to dive as much as possible in the idea :-)
    @doumafang welcome and thanks for your interest!
    @sravan953, most students have sent emails to info@p2psp requesting a review. If you have not done the same, please, proceed thus. Thanks.
    Vicente González Ruiz
    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz
    @ryansnowboarder, @sravan953 is right. Unfortunately GSoC is not the best scenario to request help (and give a hand, of course) to other students :-/ However, I'll be glad to help you in this task you have proposed!
    ryansnowboarder
    @ryansnowboarder
    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz I once dove into a shallow hot tub. I think it would be a good idea to make sure the water is deep enough first, in this case make sure the app build is possible, even though it might be a bit challenging? You said GSOC is not the best scenario to request help, but this project may not be feasible for one developer in twelve weeks, so would some teamwork be beneficial?

    @Abdelsattar
    Hello
    I am mohammed , 4th level Computer Science Cairo university have experience in android more than 1.5 year and took the basics of network and Internet technology in my faculty and want to participate in GoPro Gateway implemention for android.
    what are asked from me now ?
    Cristóbal Medina López
    @cristobalmedinalopez
    Hi @Abdelsattar, you have to write a proposal answering these questions: http://p2psp.org/en/news/59-gsoc-application-template and submit it at https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/organizations/6311954335399936/
    Vicente González Ruiz
    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz
    @ryansnowboarder, yes. I agree that sharing ideas and collaboration is the best strategy, at least for this project :-)

    Hi @sravan953,
    Welcome to P2PSP. I am Jose, one of your mentors assigned to this project, together with @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz. We will use this channel for public communications.
    Now it is time to read about GoPro development and APIs, and start doing snippets.
    Sravan Ravi
    @sravan953
    Hello @josmanual ! Will all communication take place on this channel? Also, what kind of snippets are we talking about?
    Jose Manuel
    @josmanual
    @sravan953 we are discuting the best way to do it... Maybe for public interaction Gitter is good because anyone interested in the project can follow in the public channel. Of course, for the sensitive information, email or slack.
    About the snippets, it could be a good idea to start doing little programs or examples in order to "practice" with the communication with GoPro and video, etc. My aim doing this is to test every part of the final program in isolation.
    Sravan Ravi
    @sravan953
    Alright, that gave me a good idea. Sounds great:)

    Hello everyone...i am interested to work on the project Improve GoPro project for the upcoming GSOC. And can someone guide me for writing a proposal and Where can i start my contributions?
    Jose Manuel
    @josmanual
    Hi @Prem-kumar27 and welcome to the P2PSP.
    You can start taking a look to the actual GoPro project https://github.com/P2PSP/gopro and write in the proposal your contributions to that (the things to improve).
    Premkumar
    @Prem-kumar27
    okay...I will start doing it
