    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz @cristobalmedinalopez did't get selected but would appreciate feedback so that i can figure out where i went wrong and i can improve for next year
    Cristóbal Medina López
    @cristobalmedinalopez
    Hi @Pac23, first, thanks for applying with us. I'm sorry you were not selected. We received a lot of good proposals, and we had to choose the top 3. Our mentors spent several weeks reviewing and scoring all the proposals. Finally, we ordered them by score and made the decision. We took into account things like student's skill, quality of the proposal (background, timeline, milestones), previous contributions to the open source, previous projects where we can see its knowledge, etc.
    I encourage you to keep working on your own open source projects or working with a community in order to improve your skill, and of course, show it to the world.

    @Pac23
    Thank you for the Thorough feedback @cristobalmedinalopez i will try to improve my skill set ☺ my other question is since the chromecast gui project isn't being worked on i guess i can work on it ?irrespective of gsoc,not right now since i have committed to something else but around August .

    @cristobalmedinalopez @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz this shall be the official channel for communication on the development or do you prefer some other method ?
    Cristóbal Medina López
    @cristobalmedinalopez
    I think that this channel together with Github should be enough.

    @Pac23
    i am having some issues running peers and local teams
    vlc says its unable to open the mrl due to a core input error
    Manas Mangaonkar
    @Pac23
    it persists even while running a local team
    Vicente González Ruiz
    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz
    Yes, @Pac23, the communication channels that @cristobalmedinalopez proposes are fine also for me.
    vlc says its unable to open the mrl due to a core input error
    Please, put here the sequence of commands you are running.
    Manas Mangaonkar
    @Pac23
    ./splitter --source_addr 150.214.150.68 --source_port 4551 --splitter_port 8001 --channel BBB-134.ogv --header_size 30000 > /dev/null &
    ./monitor --splitter_addr 127.0.0.1 --splitter_port 8001 > /dev/null &
    vlc http://localhost:9999 &
    ./peer --splitter_addr 127.0.0.1 --splitter_port 8001 --player_port 10000 &
    vlc http://localhost:10000 &
    for the local team
    Manas Mangaonkar
    @Pac23
    i tried with a clean install too on two diff machines same error persists
    Cristóbal Medina López
    @cristobalmedinalopez
    Hi @Pac23 Could you run each command in a different terminal removing the last part > /dev/null &?
    In that way we can see the output for all entities (including any error).
    Manas Mangaonkar
    @Pac23
    1st command
    Using Splitter_DBS
    Segmentation fault (core dumped)
    2nd command same as the first
    same for the 4th command
    and for the vlc commands

    @Pac23
    also another thing was in the actual proposal template it wasn't mentioned what gui should i implement it on
    the gtk one or the qt one
    and since @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz had mentioned a py implementation of the simulator/splitters program on the other channel,i was thinking maybe the gtk gui will be revived
    Vicente González Ruiz
    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz
    @Pac23, @cristobalmedinalopez, 150.214.150.68 has not running any Icecast server at this moment (the server is in a maintenance process). I don't know if the rest of errors (for example, the core dumped) are produced by this I have mentioned. However, @Pac23, it is almost trivial to install and run a local Icecast/VLC server for your experiments. See https://github.com/P2PSP/I-want-to-use-it
    and since @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz had mentioned a py implementation of the simulator/splitters program on the other channel,i was thinking maybe the gtk gui will be revived
    I'll very happy with any graphics library you decide to use. I haven't any preference.
    Manas Mangaonkar
    @Pac23

    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz Yup i had followed the guide,but did not do the steps in the miscellaneous part will try,thanks for pointing that out .

    okay
    Manas Mangaonkar
    @Pac23
    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz @cristobalmedinalopez is the icecast out of maintenance ? and were you able to figure out what caused the segfaults
    Manas Mangaonkar
    @Pac23
    I am done with the glade gui side of things
    Manas Mangaonkar
    @Pac23
    pr submitted
    Cristóbal Medina López
    @cristobalmedinalopez
    Ok, thanks! Let us check it before merging.
    Manas Mangaonkar
    @Pac23
    @cristobalmedinalopez @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz the view box and the actual controller for to cast/refresh should be two diff files right ?
    Manas Mangaonkar
    @Pac23
    and have the other issues been fixed ? unable to test @cristobalmedinalopez @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz
    Vicente González Ruiz
    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz
    @Pac23, we are happy with your help. Would you like to switch to a slightly different context and try to improve the P2PSP simulator? At this moment, we are very focused on its development.
    Manas Mangaonkar
    @Pac23
    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz yes,i'd be happy to
    Vicente González Ruiz
    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz
    :-)
    Please, check out P2PSP/simulator#29
    Ask us any doubt it can arise ...
    Manas Mangaonkar
    @Pac23
    saw it,i'll get back to you incase any query arises.
    Vicente González Ruiz
    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz
    Thank you!
    Manas Mangaonkar
    @Pac23
    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz read the repo,everything so i guess what you mean by an icecast is to play a actual file in vlc
    instead of the current simulated approach
    and why is time.sleep(1) commented out
    in the main sim .py file
    Vicente González Ruiz
    @vicente-gonzalez-ruiz
    Right
    We want that the "pace" of the simulator to be controlled by a real video source.
